Interesting problem, perhaps you might try to do a reset of the system initially. Normally, this ought to revert everything back to factory default but of course all user settings, preferences and configurations would also be erased. Additionally, some models/units would also ask for an entry code before being operational, pls have this available if your unit requires one. An alternative method of reset is to remove power from the mains. But again, as a reset and a code might be required.

Could you possibly provide likewise the exact make and model of the Nav DVD-CD?

Hi Diane, from the symbol you described it sounds like you are not receiving the satellite signal to your sat nav! The weak satellite signal could be due to the location you are in and also within the vehicle, some vehicles reduce satellite signals and you have to fix an external aerial to improve the signal! Have you tried using it with the door/ window open to see if that helps the signal?

Whenever battery power is disconnected your radio/Nav system must have it's factory code re-entered after voltage is restored . The radio manual describes this procedure very clearly. Your car should also have the radio security code imprinted on a card, which is found in the owner's manual dossier.

if the radio beeps when you try to enter code , might be power to display unit, there is a small yellow fuse behind the ashtray, worth checking that has not blown

I have been told to remove fuse for sat nav should be no 28 but in boot of car near sat nav cassette fuses in box only go upto 20. Am I looking in the right place?
