Stormed really bad. Went out to start my 2001 Alero ~ remote wouldn't work and car would start but die in seconds. Went out next day and it started. Any suggestions?
I had a problem similar recently, just wouldn't stay on. Found out that there is a flaw with the sensors on those cars for the ignition "talking" to the computer's Passlock II thing. The car thinks it's getting stolen so it engages the anti-theft which turns off the fuel injection. You just have to reset the Passlock. Turn the key to the first On position where you have radio but no windows, leave it for 10 minutes until the little Security light turns off. Turn off the key then start it.
Don't know if it was your problem, but just so you know, the sensor part will eventually start failing with this car.

Two weeks prior to this I had the car in the shop and they replaced the security passlock on the car since it wouldn't start at all that time. I did take it back this time and they couldn't find anything wrong with it since it was starting and staying started. They told me they did see some codes regarding the BCM and a couple of other things, but couldn't find the problem. Thank You for your solution. My car only has 33,120 miles on it and it seems to be getting more and more problems. Thank You again

security light is on engine cranks wont start
I went out this morning and it would turn over but not start until I pressed the gas pedal. Once I let off the gas pedal it stalls out. I adjusted the throttle and it starts and runs ok now. Is it the cam sensor or the TPS that's bad?
The car will start for a few seconds then die and the door locks will only work manually.
