2003 Cadillac CTS - the car won't shift from park if you start it and don't have your foot on the brake. Also, the traction control warning light is always on, and the over-hood brake light works, but the tail brake lights do not. What is the issue?

The Enhanced
Traction System
warning light may
come on for the
following reasons:


If you turn the system off by shifting to SECOND (2)
or FIRST (1), the warning light will come on and stay
on. To turn the system back on, shift to THIRD (3) or
AUTOMATIC OVERDRIVE (

If the Enhanced Traction System warning light
comes on and stays on for an extended period of
time when the system is turned on, your vehicle
needs service. Adjust your driving accordingly.


The warning light will come on when you set your
parking brake with the engine running, and it will
stay on if your parking brake doesn’t release fully.
If the transaxle shift lever is in any position other
than FIRST (1) or SECOND (2) and the warning
light stays on after your parking brake is fully
released, it means there’s a problem with the system.


If the traction control system is affected by an
engine-related problem, the system will turn off
and the warning light will come on.

Low brake fluid level could cause that. Bad ABS wheel sensor. Brake switch. Go to Autozone and ask them to put the scanner on and see what codes you're getting.

Have to have the car checked for codes & diagnosed,
like every problem you ever had, with any vehicle

Same procedure every time-- all problems

Check battery
Check for codes
Check factory trouble charts,bulletins,google,you tube,gather the
required info to learn the system your having issues with
Do the required testing to find a problem

You know how long it has been & should know in detail
what was done,what you paid for & should have been shown
up close that work in the past & have a log book on your brake
work

So NO --doubt unless you neglect to do anything but drive a vehicle, that brake work is needed

The problems is in the ABS Braking System,the Trac Control
tells you that

If the brakes do not come apart once a year,then you need to do
some cleaning & lube there also

Do you have a security indicator on or flashing when you try to start it?

tc stands for traction control . with car started and foot on brake open glove box and push the tc button. I believe it should engage/disengage this feature but im no expert so refer to owners manual first, I think it acts kinda like a mock transfer case?

Don't do that again! You will need to re-boot the on board computer system by entering a code. Call your nearest Cadillac dealer.

Unfortunately, is either a faulty ECM or with the ECM wiring. Check the connectors at the ECM with the negative battery cable disconnected. Are there any other DTCs?

I would think a sensor is going bad , but ,without testing that is just a guess , just like the dealer tech , assuming it's a module or a fuse ! With the light's on checking for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes would be a real good first step . The dealer tech should have hooked up the Tech 2 scan tool an checked codes an look at sensor data parameters ....

lights usaly come on when there is a system fault. check for a broken or chiped wheel speed sensor ring, or a damaged wheel speed sensor. try disconecting the negative battery terminal for a few seconds to reset lights
