1988 olds trofeo digital dash

I recently sent my 1988 digital dash for repair because the speedometer led was burned-out. I was told that it was not repairable due to the previous owner trying to repair it himself. I have found a 1989 dash on the internet. Will this 1989 digital cluster interchange with my 1988. They look the same as far as I can tell. Thanks, Rich

As long as the 89 was produced before september (88) the 89 release models one wire was backward in the production line.

SOURCE: 1988 olds trofeo digital dash

Knowing Honda, or any other car manufacturer in the 80's, they are probably the same. The only reason for a redesign of dash midway through a given generation of a car would be for cosmetics. If they look the same and they're only one year apart, its probably the same thing. Redesigns surrounding this generation were 1986 and 1990. probably the same.

23 years old, that counter is shot,,take dash apart and if you can find a new one buy it and install it.While you got the dash apart unplug that bulb, are you trying to restore this car? if not I wouldnt bother with either.

Digital dash does not work properly, gauge just flash and speedometer goes up to 20mph.

The digital speedometer went out in my 88 continental as well.. I had to go to a junk yard to find a whole other cluster.. 1 year later, it doesn't work again. (-_-) I could afford to put a new speedometer in, its just hard as hell to find one for the 88.

How do i install a new alternator on a 88 oldsmobile toronado trofeo?

Easiest way is to by a Haynes repair manual and go from there. They are very good at helping out the beginner at repairing cars, runs about $15 at any car parts store.

Electronic dash goes of and on on 1988 Oldsmobile Toronado Trofeo

There is one plug that controls the whole module. Firstly, remove the steering cowling, below that you will find a large white connector. This has become loose. push it back into position. To be doubly sure you have good connectivity, drive it for a while without the cowling on, if no probems, secure it in place with insulating tape to prevent it coming apart again. If it's not under the cowling, put your hand behind the dash, follow the largest loom up to the dash and make sure it is fixed properly. Follow the loom back intowards the firewall, if there is a connector block, make sure it is in place.

Digital speedometer in my 1988 300ZX works one time I drive and not the next. Anyone have an answer why this happens?

Ther is a control unit in the dash that fails intrmittantly, replacing this control unit will most likely fix it.

I have a 1985 300zx with a digital dash & analog miles counter---the speedometer & all digital systems work fine, except now the miles aren`t calculating, nor does the digital gas counter work which...

vetsr,
I believe there is an "amplifier" box, as you described, for the digital dash, I think under the dash towards the center console. Check out http://www.z31.com/ or call your local Nissan parts counter for exact location.. They should be able to tell you.
I don't know about the miles counter. If your speedometer works, it shouldn't be the speedometer cable. Sorry I can't help you on that.
My parts counter guy has always been helpful in trying to troubleshoot many issues. At least you should know his name.
Also, check out your local Z club. http://zcca.org/ and maybe
http://www.zcar.com/forums/
Good luck and happy motoring,
