Question about 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt

1 Answer

I have an 06 Chevy Cobalt and I went to turn it on yesterday and all it did was click and flash the lights on the dashboard. The radio will play but the car will not start. The message board says "Check charge system." I want to know if there is any way to start the car to get it to a shop and what is possibly wrong with it.

Boost the vehicle .carefull that the other vehicle is off when boosting.this to protect both vehicles from voltage spikes.if you have a boost pack to keep the engine running.thats the best.way to boost the car.question.is the battery over 5yrs old if so replace it first.

Check the cigarette fuse, Sometimes it's the memory of the clock on the radio and if you pop that from a cell phone your radio won't work..

I assume you put an aftermarket radio in. Did you buy a wire harness made for your vehicle or just cut wires? A lot of cars these days use a bus system that has other wiring tied into it.

Before adding an aftermarket radio to modern cars, do a little homework into whether you need a special harness or not.

Drove to work this morning in my 2006 Chevy Cobalt LS with no problems. Listened to the radio without starting the car for 15 minutes while I fiddled with my blackberry - at one point, the radio led went...

Sounds like your battery is dead. Most batteries last about two to three years. I suspect maybe yours has a couple of dead cells. You will need a hydrometer a device we use to test each cell. When you pick one up at the parts store pry open the caps off of the top of the battery. Next squeeze and hold the bulb on the hydrometer and stick the meter into each opening in the battery and release and make a notation of where the little ball in the meter is located. This will tell you that you have one or more cells dead and the battery will need replacing. Good Luck.

you must remove all the plastic face plates around the radio then remove the radio itself.be cautious as you could damage the clips that hold the plates in place.
