Hi

your quite lucky that this has happened this way, the 4.4 has a shared belt, the belt powers the steering and the altenator that charges the battery when the charge rate drops the light comes on, most likely it wil need changing and I would recommend you have it done asap as if and when the belt snaps it cuases a lot of damage I had the 4.4 v8 petrol version on a 2000 plate, this happened to mine and cost me £350 to replace all the things the belt damaged when it snapped. I never got a warning like this so do get it looked at asap. if you are doing it your self you need to remove all the sheilding around the fan at the front to access the belt, also pat attention as to how it comes off draw a daigram if you are doing it as it can be very confusing to put back on.

Regards
Dan

Also worth mentioning that on my x5 I had to replace the fan as the bearing had gone in it so check that why you are in there, make sure there is no qwearing noise on the fan bearings.
    Regards

Hi, I own an accent CRDi '03. My problem is that, engine wont start in the mornings. But it does start on jump starting and push start. After that it runs normally and starts normally. I've checked...

Hi, I think you have a bad altinator or eletrical short which drains your battery over night, once you jump start your vehicle the altinator charges your battery enough that it starts all day but if it is parked for longer time the battery drains.

Battery lite came just replaced the battery and chkd alternator (it was good). I jump the battery and trk stays running about 10 mins and dies. Could it still be the alternator?

i might be a bad altinator but i would double check your battery. a bad battery will kill a new altinator. does the battery light stay on? if the battery light on the dash is not on you may have another problem...

2002 chrysler sebring 2.7 v6 elictrical problem???

Sounds like a charging system issue. Just because the alternator itself tested fine doesn't mean it's getting power to the car and battery. Charge the battery and start the car (with everything connected normally, including alternator). While car is idling, disconnect the battery (negative post wI'll do). If car dies, there's a problem with the alternator wiring/harness. Once the vehicle is running, the alternator should provide plenty of power. Check voltage at battery (from alternator) and should be around 14V. Check alternator fuse.
Could be the voltage regulator in the alternator going out, which would need a new alternator.

Battery light on 2003 intrepid came on

if the charging circuit is low, then it appears that your alternator is going bad....

Battery terminals, when car is off, should read 12V+-.2V. When the car is running, terminals should read 13V-14V=-.2V

No it will reset its self.Check the wires from the battery to the starter and altinator are tight and clean. If they are then have your altinator replaced.

when you have a dead battery and jump start you half to drive the vehicle for 10 to20 miles to allow the altinator to recharge the battery. if this dont work then i would have the altinator checked to see if it is charging ,your local auto parts store will do this for free
