I have a 2000 Chevy venture and recently about 6 months ago had the transmission overhauled and now I have code p0742 showing up. Could it be replacing the water pump and fuel pump be causing the code...

Hello: P0742 MEANS THE TORQUE converter clutch is stuck on. The repairs on the water pump and fuel pump should not have caused this. The P0742 could be caused by electrical connection going into the transmission, a dirty/failed torque converter solenoid, debris in the transmission. Recommend you get code cleared at Auto Zone, O'Riely, Advance Auto (they probably won't charge you) and see if code comes back, it may only be a one time incident. If it comes back then it will need to be repaired. How long is the warranty on the trans overhaul, time? miles?

My chevy venture start but when I pull to any Gear the car dosen't move.

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

If it's a manual transmission then the problem will surely be on the clutch lining. If the clutch lining is worn out the gears tends not to move. If this is the case I strongly suggest that you replace the clutch lining, pressure plate and release bearing to resolve the problem.

If it's an automatic transmission I strongly suggest that you replace the torque converter and automatic transmission fluid to resolve the problem.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

2001 Pontiac Bonneville engine code: P0742 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit stuck on. How do I fix this?

Well you have to take transmission's valve body cover off and locate the torque converter clutch solenoid and take it off and change it if necessary. because without that solenoid your transmission will not survive for long. Good luck

Where is the Torque Converter clutch solenoid located on a 2005 Chevy Cavalier Auto Transmission?

Actually, the Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid is located within the transmission housing that is easily accessible through the transmission oil pan. The TCC solenoid may vary in location dependent upon manufacture but generally it is located as aforementioned. It can cause your vehicle to stall if stuck open or close because it controls loads to the engine via your torque converter which is located between the vehicle's engine and transmission. Also, make certain that you attempt to change the transmission fluid and filter before changing the TCC solenoid because that may be your underlying issue. If not, simply reuse your fresh oil and change the TCC soleniod.
