Yes but itd be easier to find a motor from the same year span a 1998 has different electronics, mounts and size specs but to answer the question yes it would fit with little trouble if any

it is not fun w/o lift look behind passenger wheel you will need to raise front end remove wheel ,remove skid pan,and of course battery ends if 4wd I highly reccomend a lift good luck and please rate this
