Hello, not sure if I can help, but, I am aware of a glitch that could be your problem.
Try putting your left hand at the 12 o'clock position on the steering wheel with your forearm behind the sterring wheel, now, lean forward and use all of your body weight to try and turn the wheel to the left. You don't need it move much, but, keep trying to turn the key while you're yanking on the steering wheel to the left.
This is a common problem for GMC, Chevrolet, Toyota, and a few others.
I hope this info helps.
ps. Something that seems to help, if you can remember to do it, try to have your wheels straight before turning the ignition off.
The ignition key cylinder aka the tumbler assembly at the steering column is defective and needs to be replaced. you may try turning the key and at the same time rocking the steering wheel side to side in an attempt to un-jam the defective lock. a locksmith is the best way to go if you dont want to damage your vehicle, but this is not a simple problem to overcome because this feature was built into the steering column to prevent anyone from steering the vehicle without the right key.
Pull the steering wheel alittle hard til you can feel it move from stop to stop. Hold it in the center of that little bit of feeplay and then turn the key. It should unlock the wheel.
