1993 GMC K3500. Anyone know where i can find an ABS (antilock brake system) wiring diagram? When i bought my truck, it came without the ABS computer. I recently aquired the computer but still dont get the ABS lamp to light during the ignition on lamp test. I removed the guage cluster and swapped bulbs. Old bulb lit up when inserted in "service engine soon" light socket. So i know it isn't the bulb. I need to get the ABS lamp to light up to further troubleshoot the system and it is extremely difficult without a wiring diagram. I believe a diagram for a 1992 - 1994 chevy/gmc suburban, yukon, tahoe, pickup, truck would be helpful... Thanks for your help, Derek S

SOURCE: Replace 2005 GMC Sierra Daytime Running Lights...

Open the hood, and in the top right and left corners of the primary headlamps you'll see two pins (L shaped) swing them out (towards the front of the truck) and lift out. This allows you to remove the upper headlamp assembly. You can then remove the lower assembly by pushing outwards on the plastic clip that is hooked into a metal clip. Once it's out you just turn the bulb to remove it.

It's much easier if you unhook the leads to the upper assembly's bulbes so you can set the whole thing aside.

Wiring diagrams

Antilock and traction control are really part of the same system, if you have a wheel sensor bad neither one will work, get a scanner with abs capability and scan it. That will tell you which wheel is giving the problem. There are wiring diagrams out there, but you may be looking in the wrong place first.

Break padle is very hard...was told abs system is bad and that there was a recall is that true ...the recall part

Yes a 1993 Chrysler / dodge / plymouth with Antilock brake system has lifetime warrenty on said system. It is a bad design and dangerous. Mine stopped working and it took extreme pressure on brake pedal plus emergency brakes to get it stopped.

There are ABS wheel speed sensors on the front wheels behind the hubs. It is possible if the hub where replaced either the pick up ring mounted to the hub itself was not installed or might have purchase non abs hubs or they just did not switch the wheel speed pickup ring on the new hub. Another thing could be either the wheel speed sensors are mis adjusted or when they replaced the hubs they hung the spindle by the abs wire and either pulled it out of socket or messed up the wires internally. Here is a basic abs system http://www.ehow.com/how_8511860_diagnose-abs-brakes.html if you have any other questions please let me know. Also please leave good feedback.

YOU NEED TO SCAN FOR CODES

The ABS light stays on whilst driving on a Honda CRV

Hello. This indicates that you have a bad sensor or a problem with the antilock braking system [ABS]. If your brakes no longer pump themselves when you make a quick stop you know that the antilock braking system is not working. If they still pump, the problem is more likely in sensor to the ABS system. Joe

2006 Town & Country ABS light stays on

when the abs light comes on your car is letting you know that it has shut down the abs system because of a problem. so you are braking with regular conventional brakes which is perfectly safe. any time a component of the antilock brake system malfuntions the abs system is shut off and the light will come on to let you know. the most common problem is that the wheel speed sensors go bad. a trouble code will be stored in the abs control module you can have the abs module scanned to see what the problem may be. But dont worry you car is safe to drive. you just dont have the antilock brake option.

Abs light is on

the antilock brake system [abs] has a sensor with each of the wheels. If you still have the automatic pumping when you hit the brakes hard, then the only reason your abs light is on is that one of more of the sensors is faulty. If you no longer have the automatic pumping action, then your abs function has gone bad but you will still have your brakes and you can still pump them the old fashioned way.

1998 GMC Yukon ABS light stays on from start to off the engine

Hello,
It sounds like the wheel speed sensor may have been damaged in the process of removing the tire. That would cause the abs light to come on. Ususaly when the abs light comes on it is a sign they won't opperate as abs but only as standard hydraulic brakes. I hope this helps. If you have more questions reguarding this or other conserns please ask me. Please remember high ratings are very important to me.

Thank You,

2 problems on my 1993 4runner

Without a proper scan tool test for ABS DTC's, I can only suggest a few things...Look at the rear backing plates and check to see if the wires going to the ABS sensors are intact. If the wires are cut or frayed, you will get a ABS light on. Low fluid will throw this light on too. Also, see if there is any rear end lube innside the rear drums, if so, the sensors are not reading the ABS counter gear(s).
As to the dash lights, you may need to replace your turn signal/headlamp switch assby.
