Hi I have got a xg falcon ute which I am pulling out the t5 to put in my xh falcon ute, can I use the computer from the xg in the xh or do I need to source one from an xh? Also how do I go about hooking up the electrcal components for the t5? What do I do about the neutral connection? And does anyone know which wire is the reverse sensor in the auto plug( so I can use it for the manual ).

    its an 1998 xh longreach with twin fuel tanks, and doner car is an 1996 xg longreach with the single tank. I've heard you can trick the auto into running the manual, do you know how this is done.

    Hi I have a 1998 xh longreach ute that is a column shift 4 speed auto, and I want to convert it to a T5 manual. I recently got ahold of a 1996 xg longreach with all the goodies I need, I hope. I've figured pretty much everything out except whether the xg manual computer would be suitable to use in the xh also is there any other problems that come up by using a different computer ( I.e smartlock, immobilizer, wiring to gearbox from new computer) and how do I best overcome these problems.

    Hi I've recently put a T5 manual gearbox into my 1998 xh ford falcon ute, it was running a 4 speed auto. I got ahold of a 1996 xg ford ute to take everything I needed out of. I finished fitting it all up today but can't get the engine to start. I've swapped the computers over as they were both a 4ltr ohc motor just one was manual T5 and the other being an auto 4 speed. All the immobilizer stuff is working fine ( immobilizer turns of once key is turned to accessories ). I haven't got the neutral switch hooked up or the oil pressure sensor ( for the T5 ) which is obviously why the car won't fire. I have some wiring diagrams for my ute ( 1998 xh ford ute ) but none of the show where i need to run these sensors to ( neutral and oil pressure ). Any advise would be much appreciated as I am stuck on what i need to do

    Hi guys thanks for all your help, fixed problem all it needed was a proper signal for the neutral wire. The wiring loom had allocation for an auto hook up as well as a manual so all I needed to do was to switch wires over and I got ignition.

I did my best to research this problem back the first time I saw it posted. What I came up with is use the computer from the donor engine/car. Your Neutral switch should also come from the donor in respect this switch is found on the clutch in a manual car not on the trans itself as in a auto. The reverse light will also come from the manual trans, and to find which wire is which in transplant car. Use a jumper wire and probe the harness till the reverse lights come on. I can not find a schematic for these cars on the net. Your best bet will be to get a shop manual for both and find the wires there. I hope to have been some help to you.

    One of the problems with this site is I can not see your post to other people until I post to your question. I see you have other issues of which I was not aware. If the engine is turning over you do not have a problem with the neutral switch. If it was that it would not engage the starter. The oil pressure switch should just set a warning light if the engine does not produce oil pressure. Try touching the oil pressure wire to ground (bare metal) it should light a light on the dash, remove it and the light should go out.. I suspect some other problem for your not starting. Standard trouble shooting rules apply. (1) Do you have spark? (2) do you have fuel-(pressure) (3) is the timing correct. Check for spark first- Pull a spark pulg wire from one of the plugs - stick a screw driver in the end of the plug wire and spin the engine as you would try to start it. you should get a good spark off the screw driver if you hold it close to bare metal. Check the fuel line for pressure and flow.

    I checked into the immobilizer, some run codes into the ECU These codes keep the ign. circuit from turning on, if you have swaped ECU's the immobilizer is your problem. Now if you are using the original ECU and immobilizer, you have other issues. First thing is to by pass the immobilizer if you can.

Finding the wires for the reverse light isntr a problem just use a multimeter to work it out ,now as for the ECU well depends on the size of the engine ,if its a bigger engine then your existing ECU will need re-programming to allow for extra fuel .Also not sure about wiring loom or the what year this vehicle is .I think that if its a lot bigger engine and the loom fits to the larger engine then try it as iam sure that the amount of fuel is dependant on the information supplied by the mass air flow sensor amd the O2 sensors ,Best advice is try it first and if it runs weak then ask in a specialist tune up workshop as they might be able to re-programme it for you to save the expense of playing around too much with it ,best of british with projected custom job though

Get your ignition lights on for 30mins and car will start, if you use another ignition and key and leave ignition lights on for 30 mins the computer will configure and code new key!!!

If this belt is not used with a tensioner, then you should adjust the belt so you can rotate the belt with your fingers 90 degresses.
