I have a 2001 Explorer Sport Trak and it don't want to start. We have checked all the sensors (crankshaft, cam trigger, fuel pump pressre is 65). What is the tank fuel pressure sensor voltage reading. It reads appx 2.4v at the PCM. Tnx

The first thing to check would be spark. This can be done by connecting a spark plug tester to a plug wire while the engine is cranking. The tester must be grounded to the engine block for a good electrical connection.. Your fuel pump pressure is OK.
The problem should be electrical so check
1. No voltage to the fuel injectors (blown injector fuse or bad relay)
2. No pulse signal to the injectors from the PCM (no crank or cam sensor input to the PCM, or a bad driver circuit in the PCM, or a wiring harness problem)
3. A shorted fuel injector (robs voltage from the other injectors so none will operate)

Where is the cold start valve on a 2001 pt cruiser?

No cold start valve ,sorry ! What color smoke ? Your best bet is to have it diagnosed by a qualified repair shop . Could have bad crankshaft position sensor ,fuel pump problems , cam sensor ,temp. sensor etc.. To know for sure testing needs to be done . Scan tool data checked , fuel pump pressure an volume testing . Check spark plug color , the color can tell you if running rich ,lean etc...

I'm trying to figure out why my explore sport will not start

Check for a part called an Inertia switch. These are usually behind the front kickpanels. There is a reset button on it. This will cut off the power to the fuel pump in an accident. But a door slam can also trigger this interruption.

Test the injectors for power going to them. Check fuel pump pressure as you may need to adjust. Finally, a whiff of starting fluid may let engine run for a few seconds indicating it really Is a fuel issue.
You have both a fuel pump relay and an ECC relay in the Powerbox.
If this is a Double Overhead Cam V-8, the are parts called "Cam Phasers" which can stick and throw off timing.
"Cold Start Sequence" This is a enrichment function which is controlled by water temperature. A bad temperature sensor can eliminate this process. The fuel mix is set rich and the cam timing is changed to promote easier starts.
Most of the items I mentioned will not throw a diagnostic Code. You did not indicate whether a Code was set. The throttle position sensor can be checked by disconnecting the electric lead and using an Ohmmeter on the part while you move the throttle. The Ohms should change smoothly.
Would like to know what you find.

Ok. 2003 ford explorer sport trac. Died on the way home. Myself and my mechanic cannot figure out what the issue is. We have spark. And fuel. The cam sensor doesn't seem to have power. It's trying...

First, check the fuel pump safety shut off switch, you can check that first, then check fuel pump, filter and fuel pressure regulator and fuel related fuses and relays. Next, remove the O2 sensors and just hang them on a piece of wire out of the way...now try starting the vehicle, if it starts, get the catalytic converter checked for blockage...other checks are
Pick-up coil or fuel pump control module....cheers

01 ford explorer sport won't stay running. turns over fine and starts but quits right away

Check for vacuum leak at intake manifold or bad fuel pump relay or have fuel pressure checked to see if fuel pump is working properly 40-45 psi it should be pumping

1998 v8 eddie bauer ford explorer does not start at all

Does the engine turn over? If the starter is turning the motor, then your issues are going to be no fuel, no spark. If not fuel means that your fuel pump, fuel pump relay, fuel filter is bad (common issues first). If you have fuel and no spark then your coils are bad, crankshaft position sensor, cam shaft position sensors are bad. Are there any check engine lights on? If so read the codes with a scanner. If not, then you are going to have to check electrical with a multi-meter to see what the problems may be.

Hi I have a 1998 pontiac transport. i replaced the head gaskets and fired up. It starts everytime but then quits right away. Aby ideas????

Check the cam sensor plugin, and the crankshaft sensor plugin. If they are fine the cam sensor may be bad,but the ignition module can be bad also.was it running before the head job?If the computer does not sense oil pressure,it will not let the fuel pump run,so check that out as well.
