I have a 2004 Kia Spectra and the keyless entry keychain battery died so the car has an active alarm that we cant seem so shut off. so any time we open the doors the alarm goes off and wont stop till the car is off for awhile.

cant be done easily
diagnostic scanner may be able to switch that part of the system off


check on this
when key is lost

you can buy replacement kia spectra keys /fabs ..ebay
lock smith and /or auto electrician can use
diagnostic scanner ...can reset the new key or fobs to the cars electronic systems

You may have accidentally broke the controller. They are fragile. The newer cars like yours automatically set the alarm when the doors are locked from keychain remote, or locking manually. New remote, $50-100.

You may have to reprogram the keyless entry system hold the lock and unlock on the keychain you should hear the horn

That doesn't sound like it has anything to do w an alternator, possibly a faulty battery but alternators do stop charging in a second.

The 'Keyless Entry & Burglar Alarm System" is activated. You must 'Disarm' the system using the Keyless Entry Remove (Key Fob) to "Reset" the system. The reason the engine won't start is due to the burglar alarm - it has a "Starter Kill" circuit which is activated when the alarm is activated. The alarm must be DEactivated to DEactivate the 'Starter Kill' circuit.
Another way to start the engine is to get in the car, put the key in the ignition and turn it to 'ON" and wait 3 to 5 minutes until the emergency flashers stop/turn off. Afterward, you should be able to start the engine. NOTE: This does NOT reset the burglar alarm. It will go off again when you enter the vehicle without using the remote/key fob.

Opening the drivers door with the key is supposed to shut down the factory security but the drivers key cylinder usually goes bad. You will have to unlock the rear tail gate lock cylinder with the key and that will shut down the factory security, before opening the drivers door.Your other option is to have an aftermarket keyless entry system installed, which will open the doors remotely while shut down the factory security at the same time.

MOST OF THE TIME WHEN YOU HAVE PROBLEMS IN THE REMOTE AND KEYLESS ENTRY.THE DEALERSHIP HAS TO REPROGRAM IT.BUT FIRST CHECK ALL THE FUSES AND RELAYS.IF THEY ARE OKAY.THEN DEALERSHIP HAS TO FIX.

You might try Opening the Door and Opening the Hood and Disconnecting the Battery. This should reset the System. If this is the Factory Keyless Entry, There is a Relay and a Fuse for this. Check them and see if they are Bad or Blown.
