Dashboard light Could anyone suggest the solution to the frequent on and off of my little Echo's dashboard light. The light comes on certain times when I get into a port hole causing a shakeup, afterward it goes off again. Thanks

It sounds like when the dashboard was replaced that one or more of your lighting harnesses weren't completely plugged in.

Since your check engine light came on, you now have an error code to help pin it down. I would suggest you take it to an autoparts store and have them read the error codes in your computer. WRITE THEM DOWN IN THE ORDER THEY COME OFF, so you have them. That should give you a starting point for further troubleshooting.

The sensor is normally on top of the dashboard in front of the driver. Make sure you have nothing on top of the dashboard, nor are using a dashboard cover. The sensor is small, but should look like a little clear lens mounted into the dashboard.

Problems with dashboard lights

The switch that you are talking about... the dimmer switch, must not be working. If you have warranty left, i suggest you take it in. If not, maybe find a good auto wrecker, and replace the switch yourself. I'm guessing they'll be expensive.

Dashboard Lights Going, going, going

There is a dimmer for the dashboard lights on the dash. Make sure it is up. If all the other warning lights come on on the dash as well, then your ignition switch needs replaced.
