Took battery out of my 1993 buick riviera, put back in now starts then dies

how did you disconnect the battery, pos first then neg ? or neg first then pos ? try starting it and after started, hold your rpm at 1500, for about two minutes, then if still running, drive it to get to.speeds of 40 for about 15 minutes, this is to relearn if not, disconnect your battery, take the pos and neg cable and touch them together and hold for about a minute, then Connect them back, neg.first.then pos, then follow steps above to.relearn.

My 2008 Camry will not start. I checked the battery, and it is reading at 11.9. When the key is turned to accessory the dash lights come on and radio works, but if I apply the brake or turn to start...

No fit a new battery ,also check its charging do this by jump starting the vehicle with proper cables and not boost cables then with engine running disconnect the neg battery terminal ,if engine stops then you need a new alternator if it continues to run replace the battery ,it should 12.7 volts or up dont start playing with relays or anything else .

Dilemma, Battery died in my 1998 s70 volvo, charged the battery, then disconnected the neg. cable while car was running and engine died. Is this a bad alternator?

Scan it from the OBDII System to find out for sure or remove the Alternator and have it tested at your local Auto Parts Store.

When the car is left overnight the battery is flat the next day. Also the dash boad lights are on indicating a problem with the brakes and the airbag.

START THE CAR, CHECK VOLTAGE AT BATTERY WHILE RUNNING AT HIGH IDLE. VOLTAGE SHOULD BE SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 13.80 TO 14.80 OVER 14 IS BETTER. IF THAT IS OK THERE MAY BE A BATTERY DRAIN. TO CHECK FOR A DRAIN, TURN OFF ALL SWITCHES, CLOSE ALL DOORS , INCLUDING GLOVE COMP. DISCONNECT NEG. BATT. CABLE, PUT 12 VOLT CIRCUIT TESTER ONE END ON NEG. BATT TERM. THE OTHER END ON THE NEG CABLE. IF THE LIGHT COMES ON THERE IS A DRAIN. NO LIGHT - NO DRAIN. IF NO DRAIN HAVE THE BATTERY TESTED AT A CERTIFIED ELECTRICAL SHOP

Dash dsnt come on/ wnt strt

Dead battery possibly. However, check all connections first on both the battery, pos and neg - as well as the negative on the chassi or block (wherever it's grounded) and the starter.

If these are all good - try jump starting the car. If it start, disconnect the battery (both terminals) and if it stays running the alternator is still good. If it dies, the alternator needs repalced, as well as the battery.

When an alternator starts to lose (or quit holding) it's charge, the battery becomes the main source of power. The battery purpose is to supply power to the starter at starting point, then to all electrical components. The alternator simply keeps the battery charged. So, without a good alternator, then goes the batter after about 3-5 starts and drives.

Also, as a safe measure check all fuses and relays. See my tip on how to test relays.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

My mercedes clk 270 diesel there is no power at all to the car electrics

Right . its not all bad.
When you have zero electrics , its a major componant failure ie; battery cables , battery fuse links, earth strap ot body etc. A set of jump leads would be helpful. Check battery is charged, check voltage at battery terminal conections and NOT the battery posts as they may be corroded and dirty but look sound (+ and -) bridge Battery neg to metal of engine . This eliminates earth connection (NEG) failure. A simple circuit tester check of the major connections (under dash) and links attached to the POS + terminal at battery should solve the problem. Remember your looking for large connectors (look on bulkhead also for fuse links) and not fuses in interior fusebox. (too many circuits down to be a single fuse type problem.

Alternator and electrical problems ive changed alternator twice, now clicking noise under dash bat. light comes on and dash lights flicker

check all battey connections and system grounds. Check that the battery has 12v and holds properly when load tested. To check charging system, don't disconnect any battery leads...put a volt meter across the battery. when running, you should have at least 12.9v and volts should not drop. (usual reading is generally at or near 13) at idle with all accessories on voltage should be close to that as well. voltage should not exceed 14.Also make sure that drive belt is not slipping.

Factory installed radio/casette player 1992 honda accors

You should disconnect the neg. battery cable and disarm the air bag. Remove the floor console and the front console panel, remove ashtray and ashtray holder, remove 2 screws holding the radio at the rear of the unit, carefully push unit out the front of the dash. When it clears enough, disconnect the antenna and multi pin connector. Remove the unit. Reverse to install. Enjoy the new sound system. countrycurt0
