Security Why for no reason did the security system switch off on my 2002 t-bird keeping me from starting it and also inconvenice me to have to tow it to a dealer to fix.this car is not driven very often.May have 20k miles. Oh did i mention that my nearest dealer now is 30 miles away because they closed up all the local ones.

Your anti-theft system kicked in for some reason. If you shut it off, the engine will turn over but will not start. A Chevy or GMC dealership is usually required to reset the system, but you'll have to bring it to them. Dealer + Towing = BIG $$$$. A less expensive option would be a mobile mechanic (call them first) or a licenced locksmith. Either way you'll need to show ID and proof of ownership.

No , anti-theft system will not allow that . The only logical solution would be call a lock smith . He can cut you a new key and program it

ok the SCAN tool shows why?
did you scan first?
if not this work will be impossible.. see why?
eg; DTC errors
wrong key
comm errors to SKIM
SKIM dead.
etc.....

i have an innova 3160 (at home) that scans and works 100% for all passive scans and all factory codes. (some tools dont do jeep codes)

buy the tool or tow car to any ASE mech to do same
he will. after checking all fuses first.

the ASD relay caused the stall. or no start.
if the realy drops cranking
the scan tool told you why there are 8 reasons, stated .

security reason is but 1 of 8 reasons,

no scanner no joy , on todays cars.
and is not expensive, about 1hrs shop labor and you have a tool.

run the fault cods to determine the reason for the fail safe mode. It may be a cam/ rank sensor or other problem

that happened 2 me , had 2 have it towed to dealer. I had them disable entire security system.

Are you sure it's security related? Could be starter overheating problem.

i'm having the same issue. Dealer said the battery won't hold it's voltage; swapped in a new one. But also said that's independent of the "service security system" fault; which they say might be the ignition module. Were you able to fix your problem?

two possablites, one for some reason the someone entered through the passengerside started the car before opening the driverside door, this will throw the code, the other is raising the front or rear of car off the ground past 7 or 8 digrees as if beeing towed by a tow truck . without key in ignition

Why couldn't they find anything wrong? The main componants should be tested first. (the starter,srarter relay,any related wiring, ignition switch, and all connections at battery, relay, fuse, starter, and eng. block). Good luck.
