Transmission Purchased 2007 Camry 4 cyl Sept 2007. Shifting problems immediately. Called and was informed there was a TSB. Took it back, problem at low speed was partially corrected. Rumbling at 40 MPH, erratic shifting between 30 to 40 mph and violent increase in speed using cruise when catching up to set speed. Took it back, was told not a pblm with rumbling and nothing done or said about other problems. Told to get used to it. Have taken it back again when depressing gas at low speed, hesitation and then very quick acceleration. Told there was software update for ECM. Anyone have any similar problems?

Hi. I am the owner of a 2007 camry LE. And let me tell you, i still experience the same behaviors with my car as well. The erratic 30-40 mph shifting is either up or downshifting due to the innovation of the ECT-i (Electronic Controlled Transmission with intelligence) meaning the car has two ECUs, one for the engine and one solely for the transmission. Altough the engine recognizes the car is going at these speeds, the transm. keeps the highest gear (5th for 4 cyl engines, 6th for the V6 engine) at low revs, ergo, producing the rumbling vibration you hate the most. Mine has 40,000mi and never took it to a dealership, it is not as bad as it was at the begining. The Cruise Control situation, i have the same problem and is not gonna change, due to the same ECUs situation, both of them conflicting wether it is fast or slow, rich or lean, up or downshift, until they get a program solution. All i do is: engage cruise ctrl while on straightways and disengage when coming to an uphill. Other than that, I think is the best investment I've ever made. Just ordered a set of wheels for it this week. Hope this will help.

Had the same problem on a 2007 Corolla. The check engine light was on, had hard shifts, and a DTC code of P2716. The computer had to be updated. I would take it in and ask them about this TSB.

What is P2716 code for a 2006 Toyota Corolla mean?

There is currently a recall going on for this problem. You can likely get your money back on the prior repairs as well. See this link http://www.toyota.com/recall/corolla-matrix.html. On the left-hand side, you can click to take you to put in your VIN and see if your vehicle is included. My 2007 vehicle IS included, and I just had the check engine light come on and have been experiencing rough shifting for about 6 months. When the light came on yesterday, it was extremely rough jerky shifting. The light went off today. Took it to Autozone and got same code P2716. Toyota has assigned me a case number, but I won't get a call back until Monday or by close of biz on Tuesday. This problem can cause your car to not start, or to shut down while driving. YIKES! The person I talked to at Toyota acted a little too nonchalant about the whole deal. Telling me to just wait for the call that I will get. She said most dealers would not have the part needed to fix this. According to what I have read. That is the reason why Toyota is not sending out the notification letters to the affected parties until mid-September. Check out all the info and good luck. I am a little bit p.o'd about this right now. - Natalie

Reverse suddenly quit 95 toyota camry 4cyl auto

Check your transmission fluid level asap. if the level is good, you will need to inspect the shift solenoids located inside the transmission pan. replace any solenoids that are proven to be faulty. i would also advise to test the pcm/tcm for its operational value as well. this device controls the shifting patterns of the auto trans.

while checking the solenoids, if you notice any metal fragments on the bottom of the pan, this will be a sign of major gear friction. you should re build in this case.

2005 Toyota Transmission downshifts rough

Sounds like you need the updated engine computer for harsh shifting. Look up under the glove box at the computer. Number should be 89661-02K21 if not, you need the update. It is an 8/80 warranty item.

2007 Camry LE 6 Cyl Piston Slap

There are no recalls, but there are TSB's out on the problem. A TSB is a Technical Service Bulletin. It's a specific repair procedure that addresses a specific issue. Better talk to a lawyer and think about sueing the dealer.

1997 Toyota Camry lxe 6 cyl

It is the solenoid that operates the lock-up function in the torque convertor. It won't do any damage, but will drop your fuel mileage probably 3 to 4 mpg. Most likely the solenoid itself is defective.
