1991 Corvette Hey Scott, I think I have the same problem as the guy with the 1994 Corvette. My 1991 Corvette starts when cold but will not start immediately after driving. I drove the car 5 miles yesterday and everything was fine. I parked the car and let it sit for about an hour. The car would not start. I can hear the car cranking but it would not fire up. I let the car sit all night and it started up fine this morning. This is the second occurrence in 1 week. Any ideas? Problem # 2 occurs when the car gets hot. I hear an annoying clunking sound coming from underneath the car when idle. The noise gets quieter when I engage the clutch. My beautiful Vette sounds like an old clunker. A friend of mine has a 1996 Vette and said that it is the throw out bearing. He said almost all the manual C4 Corvettes do this. Any ideas? I would also like to add that my car has 19K original miles. I keep it hooked up to a battery tender and replaced the battery, plugs, wires, and alternator since I have owned it. Thanks Michael

i would try replacing the computer in it. my pontiac would do that it would only run a while than stop and die. i had to replace the computer to fix the problem.

Sounds like the auto shut down relay. Located somewhere in the front grille/bumper area. Relay triggers on impact to shut down all power in order to prevent fires etc. Great idea but can cause exactly the frustration you are having if you don't know it's there!!

Change your fuel filter, it may have gone it's life time and is getting to dirty to let fuel flow properly. Your fuel pump to may be getting weak, if the fuel filter is dirty the pump works harder and heats up and could be over heating the fuel pump relay too. The fuel pump relay i believe is in the glove box behind a panel that say relay, there should be (3) in there and the middle one is the fuel pump's. switch then around after you change the fuel filter and if you get a chance, check your fuel pressure at the shredder valve. Good luck and hope this help's if there is a Auto Zone around you, you can ask to use the fuel pressure gauge to see what fuel pressure you have and they'll have the step by step instructions on how to do it and takes about 5 min to do and will have the fuel filter and step by step to replace that too. Keep me posted, be glad to help.

sounds like the starter is pulling too many amps any local auto store should have equipment to check starter good luck

Wont start when hot

If you recently had a waterpump replaced or leaking, i would say its the opti spark distributor. Main problem with the LT1 engines the water leaks all over distributor that sits behind pump causing the start no start up. When ever you change the waterpump always include the opti spark and wired connector.

Cold engine cranks when bumpping the starter once. After engine is wram you have to bump starter three time to crank. 1997 jeep wrangler 4.0 engine. What is the problem. Thanks

I have a 1991 L98 Tuned Port Corvette. When I turn the key to the on position the fuel pressure reads 50psi but falls back to zero within 2-3 seconds and the car won't start. I can spray injector cleaner...

It could be a cam sensor. If the sensor isn't sending a signal to the computer then it will not allow the fuel pump to continue running after 2-3 seconds. Since you have spark and fuel pressure upon initial start this could be your problem.

1994 corvette starts good if sits for 2 days but when warm, have to crank it to start and then a lot of gass smell...kind of bucks and some times backfires until warmed up

Coolant temperature sensor is bad. Telling computer that the engine is still cold and over fueling as if it were a cold engine.

could be vapor locking, losen up the fuel cap and see if that helps if so then replace it!!!!!!
