You say "when it's to the full line". If you are referring to the plastic coolant reservoir, that is not an indication of how much coolant is in the radiator. You must remove the radiator cap to check the coolant level and too add coolant. If you are pouring coolant into the reservoir, and the radiator is low, then the coolant in the reservoir is probably being pulled into the radiator after you have driven the vehicle. That doesn't mean you are losing antifreeze. It just means you need to put antifreeze in the radiator.

2004 Pontiac Grand Prix V6. Car keeps overheating, I lose power steering when I go through puddles. Coolant is full now the coolant failure light lit up and temp went to red What's causing this?

You will lose steering of the belt slips on the pulley for the steering pump. Replace the serpentine belt, or use a belt conditioner spray.

This is likely the reason for the overheating, but can also be a coolant temperature sensor or the fans not working. Even a water pump failure.

Coolant boiling in resevoir.

It can be faulty coolant temperature sensor. Its not sensing exact coolant heat temperature so its overheating then required level.

-----------

Get the coolant pressure tested, its definitely leaking coolant. You will need to get the coolant running line.

Pressure test will help you to know from where exactly coolant/refrigerant is getting leaked.

1997 chevy express van overheated now no oil pressure

sounds like possibly head gaskets, when you overheated probably warped heads causing coolant in oil and coolant in cylinders therefore partially hydrolocking...antifreeze does not compress like fuel vapors .check oil and see if looks like creme to light chocholate color. this means coolant in oil, this is very ******* bearings, eats them up and if thats the problem you loose oil pressure cause bearings are sloppy from being worn. Bottom Line.you might be looking for another enj.or rebuild

Overheating

OVERHEATING CAN BE CAUSE BY MANY THINGS LIKE FAULTY THERMOSTAT AND FAULTY RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP,TOO MUCH WATER IN COOLANT SYSTEM NEED 50 / 50 WATER AND ANTIFREEZE.LOOK FOR WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE LEAK, IF COOLANT LEAKING OUT WEEP HOLE WATER PUMP BAD NEED REPLACING.CHECK FOR LOW COOLANT LEVEL, YOUR RADIATOR OVERFLOW JUG SHOULD HAVE COOLANT AT THE FULL COLD MARK IF NOT KEEP ADDING COOLANT INTO COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG UNTIL COOLANT STOP DROPPING AND FULL COLD MARK, IF OVERFLOW COOLANT JUG WAS EMPTY RADIATOR IS LOW ON COOLANT.WHICH CAUSE AIR IN COOLANT SYSTEM KEEPING THE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR FROM BEING SUBMERGE IN HOT COOLANT WHICH TURN ON THE COOLANT FANS.WHEN ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE GET CERTAIN SET TEMPERATURE LIKE 190 DEGREES THE PCM AND COOLANT SENSOR WILL TURN ON COOLANT FANS, IF VECHICLE OVERHEATING COOLANT FANS NOT WORKING EITHER YOU HAVE FAULTY ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR CHECK COOLANT FANS FUSE AND RELAYS. YOU CAN CODE SCAN CAR TO SEE IF YOU HAVE FAULTY PCM, FAULTY ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR OR FAULTY COOLANT FAN RELAY.IF COOLANT FAN AND ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR OKAY,YOU HAVE CORRECT COOLANT LEVEL IN COOLANT SYSTEM, THERMOSTAT AND RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP BEEN REPLACED, YOU COULD HAVE BLOWN HEAD GASKET CHECK ENGINE OIL LOOKS LIKE MILK SHAKE HEAD GASKET BLOWED ALSO WHEN HEAD GASKET BLOWED YOU CAN DRIVE CAR SHORT DISTANCE START OVERHEATING AND YOU LOOSE ENGINE POWER SUSPECT BLOWED HEAD GASKET.

My peugeot 206 keeps cuttin out and the enguin light comes on while im driving it started off only doin it a couple times now its doin it often it seems to get hot quicker than normal 2. its ok if i am...

SOUND LIKE ENGINE OVERHEATING,CHECK COOLANT LEVEL MAKE SURE YOUR RADIATOR FULL OF ANTIFREEZE.IF YOUR COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG IS EMPTY COOLANT LEVEL IS LOW.NEED ADD MORE COOLANT TO OVERFLOW UNTIL COOLANT STAY AT FULL COLD MARK. DONT OVER FILL COOLANT OVER FLOW JUG.IF COOLANT OKAY ENGINE OVERHEATING REPLACE THERMOSTAT.MAKE SURE ENGINE COOLING FAN IS WORKING IF YOU COME TO A STOP CAR SITS FOR A LITTLE WHILE START OVERHEATING THE COOLING FAN NOT TURNING ON , BECAUSE COOLANT FAN FUSE BLOWED OR YOU HAVE BAD RELAY,THE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR FAULTY.IF YOU HAVE THE CLUTCH TYPE COOLING FAN, MAKE SURE WHEN TURNING CLUTCH FAN WITH HAND COOLING FAN SHOULD HAVE RESISTANCE WHEN HOT.IF CLUTCH FAN FEEL WOBBLY AND LOOSE REPLACE IT.TAKE VECHICLE TO AUTO ZONE OR ADVANCE AUTO PARTS OR ANY AUTO PARTS STORES THEY WILL CODE SCAN CAR FREE AND GIVE YOU THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TROUBLE CODE TO SEE WHAT CAUSING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO TURN ON.

2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee... Overheated and the 'trans overheat' light came on. When I popped the hood the coolant res was bubbling. I let it cool down and parked it overnight, when I started it, it was...

You can no longer use the vehicle, common sense

Sounds like either the thermostat stuck closed, the cooling
fans failed to come on, or you have a bad head gasket.

You do know that the engine is overheading and has to
be diagnosed and that issue repaired

That Trans Issues, you work on after the engine overheating.

Even if the trans is okey, you will need to change the
fluid,not flush it.

2000 chevy venture overheating and low coolant light on when coolant is full

There is a heat sensor located near the thermostat that goes directly into the block. Get a Haynes or Chiltons manual.

The thermostat is probably bad and causing your overheating. If that is not hte problem, then it would probably be your water pump.

97 saturn sl2 temp light flashing and low coolant light flashing what could be the problem ? coolant is full and the heat works.

If the temp gauge is reading normal, the lights are flashing, and the coolant level is full, the level sensor in the coolant bottle is the problem. I'm a service consultant for a Saturn dealer and I've run across this many times.
