SOURCE: 99 gmc suburban driver side door will not open from inside

My son and I both have 99 suburbans. We both had exactly the same issue. We found the the latch or handle inside the cab on the drivers side had broken off inside the door. Not a big deal. Go to a site called " Parts Train". You can buy virtually any part for your truck there. Get a new inside door handle, pull the panel and replace it. Not an easy job to getting door panel off or back on, but I guarantee this is the problem. You won't have a problem with the passenger side because it is used less. At Parts Train make sure you order the same color as your old one. Take your time and do a good job and you will have your fix.

I would take the door panel off and see if you can get the outside door handle off and try to adjust the linkages.

Driver side handle replacement

in most vehicles, replacing the handle entails removing the inside of the door to access the mechanisms inside. there usually isn't a way around this. a repair manual can assist with directions on how to go about doing this type of project.

Its nothing serious but neither of the passenger of drivers side back doors will open from the inside and the rear door needs a pin?

you need to open the doors from the outside and look on the door edge above the latch, double check that the little metal slide rod is "not" se to child proof!
if it is you will not be able to open from inside!
hope this helps

I have a 1996 gmc suburban - the front pass door will not open from inside, you can open from outside. How can i replace a broken handle/latch?

Either a piece broke or the pullrod came off. Either way... you'll have to remove the interior door panel to repair.
