Starting for a second or two is quite possible that the passlock system is causing it. I've seen this happen before. There are a lot of videos on youtube about bypassing this system. Have a look. bypass GM anti theft YouTube

the maf on it isnt used a maf only a temp sensor the software change made the syatem speed density controlled fuel.. but if you have a idle probel it may just be the Idle Air Control Motor or IAC try to put foor on the gas pedal a little whne cranking see if it fires right up if so suspect the IAC.. is if still cranks long time try the fuel filter but those usually will make lack of power before you get a hard start issue.

Body Control Module (BCM) on both counts. Find a shop in your town that specializes in electrical systems to test it. Beware, these can be intermittent problems, so make sure they keep it until the car does what you have observed. Expect to spend about $450 for the replacment. Dealers quoted me between $700 and $1,100 for the same repair. By the way, a new BCM will probably only last you about 12 months.

just a suggestion, but it might be possible you only need a fuel filter and not a pump and with a new filter you should be able to run your tank lower
