YOU CANNOT BYPASS THE VW ALARM/IMMOBILISER SYSTEM....without causing irriparable damage to the car,stops the thieves dead.....they just sell the spares.

Sorry but you don't - without the regular correctly coded key the immobiliser won't disarm.
The immobiliser is integrated into the computerised management system and can't be bypassed. You need to contact a very good auto locksmith or the dealer.
You really need the key as it may contain a small chip to allow the engine to start because without the coded chip the engine will crank until the battery is flat or you can try and find someone to bypass the immobiliser for you but as it is part of the ecm get it wrong and replacement ecm and coding required

If you are looking to bypass the immobilizer permanently that is not an option. If you are installing a remote starter there are several options if you have the proper transponder key. Some company's offer bypass modules that can be programmed to the vehicle if you have 2 transponder (chip) keys. If you have only 1 key you can have it cloned and put into a device that is known in the industry as a key coffin. This device couples the signal from the coded key in the coffin into a loop or coil of wire wrapped around the key cylinder when enabled to let the car start without the transponder key in the ignition. Look for remote start bypass modules on the internet th find one for your car.Some devices can be flash programmed to your vehicle again if you have the transponder key or keys. Otherwise the only way to bypass it is with the proper factory scan tool available to dealers this is only temporary.
If it is not a new key fob, it sounds to me like the immobilizer is activated. So, all the lights on the dash are working now? Is there a flashing key on the dash lights? One of the resets that works is put the key fob in, and turn ignition on without starting it, and leave it 15 minutes. And try again.
Your ford dealer visit may not be as expensive as you think, you need 2 pats keys and have them perform an ignition key code erase then they should be able to program your 2 new keys, The Ford Dealer I work at only charges 0.5hrs or approx $50.00 dollars Canadian.
you will have to take the vehicle to someone with the capabilities to reprogram the keys to the vehicle either a vw dealer or someone who has vagcom it is the only way there is no shortcut or bypass to program the keys you need a scantool for vw
your car has lost its code in the key, have you got a spare key, ifso try it.
if not starting on 2nd key its the read coil around lock.
i take it your car is a 2003 model.
