Dash and tail lights go off at night.

The dash and tail (running) lights go out after about 12 seconds of darkness on the sensor (tested by starting the car and then covering the sensor with my hand), Starting the car in the day time is fine, but at night the sensor triggers the lights to off. I can hear a relay kick in and the dash and tail lights go off.

I have checked the grounds and fuses.

2002 Chevy Monte Carlo lights work during day turn off at night

I have the same problem. It's really irritating. The only way I've been able to get them back on is using my aftermarket alarm remote. Then they stay on for a little while and turn back off.

The photo electric cell in sensor is not working properly and needs replacement. Same part that goes in garden lights that do not work in evening.

SOURCE: no dash or tail lights

the only thing i can think of then is that if he didn't completely cover any of the wires with electrical tape or wire caps if he spliced them, then that would cause it. If that isn't it then I am not sure what else it could be, sorry.

SOURCE: dash lights and tail light not working

The dash lights and tailights are on the same fuse link. everything else will work like brake lights and turn signals but this one fuse causues alot of problems. Sometimes this fuses isnt marked on your cover so you might have to look in the maual to find the right fuse . some will be under the hood some will be under the dash .

Good luck to you all on finding this little fuse hope you find it before the cops pulls out behind you when its dark :)

No power on dash, radio, parking lights and plug for emission test

Check the fuses against a dark piece of paper. I have had some look OK but looking closer against a dark background showed a crack. I had a Toyota that thought it didn't have any gas and would run intermittently. Checked all sorts of things and it was a 15 cent fuse.

On my 1999 Olds Intrigue I have never had to turn on my lights at night. All night time driving lights come on automatically until recently. Now only the headlights come on.To get the dash lights,tail...

Without testing i would say you have DRL control module problem , But that would just be a guess .
In the night mode, the DRL ambient light sensor senses darkness. Then, the DRL module turns off the front turn lamps and turns on the headlamps through circuit 10. The DRL module also turns on the park, side marker, license, and tail lamps. If the engine should stall with the DRL control module in the night mode, the DRL control module will turn off the headlamps and leave the side marker, park, license and tail lamps on while the engine is being cranked. The headlamp switch operates as usual.
The Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) control module is designed to automatically operate exterior lights depending on outside light conditions. The DRL control module operates in two modes, the day mode and the night mode. In the day mode, the DRL ambient light sensor senses daylight. Then, the DRL control module turns on the front turn lamps (non-flashing) if under the following conditions:
• The ignition switch is on.
• The headlamps switch is in the OFF position.
• The park brake is released.

The brightness of the Vacuum Fluorescent (VF) displays is controlled by two signals: the park lamps on signal (circuit 230) and the VF dimming signal (circuit 308). With the park lamps on, the VF display of the radio, heater, A/C control (with RPO CJ2) and the instrument cluster will dim for nighttime viewing. When the park lamps on signal is not present (park lamps off), the VF displays are at high brightness for daytime viewing. When the park lamps are on, the I/P lamp dimmer switch provides a signal (VF Dimming Signal circuit 308) which controls the brightness of the VF displays when the I/P lamp dimmer switch is adjusted.

Do the Daytime running light's work ?

Have a 2000 Venture van..at night when i start

You have a light sensor that automatically turns on your lights when it is dark enough. This is not your daytime running lights. It also turns on the dash & tail lights. This is why they do not get brighter when you turn the switch on, they are already on. If they do not seem to be bright enough, you may need to adjust the headlight aim.

Dash light do not come on but lights do for drl on 2005 chev equinox

DRL (Daytime Running Lights) will come on any time you start your car.
The dash lights do not come on, unless your headlights turn on. Either by a daylight sensor or if you manually turn them on by the switch.
So even though your headlights are on with the DRL, if you notice the tail lights do not come on (just like the dash lights don't).

To test if your dash lights do work, turn your headlight switch on. You should the the tail lights and dash lights come on.
