Possibly but check the map sensor as this will also cause this try disconnecting it if it idles and doesnt die then youve found your problem als be a good idea to check the codes and see what they are telling you let me know something good luck.

2003 ford windstar idles & sputters.van will sometimes stop if i leave it in park to run in the house & then starts right back up when i start it.what could be the problem?

It is very common for these vans to have problems with the hose that runs between the pcv valve and the intake manifold. They have rubber elbows at the corners and they rot out causing a vacuum leak. Open the hood and run the engine while you listen for a hissing sound. This may lead you to the leak, otherwise carefully inspect the line, especially the rubber parts.

you will need to check #2 cylinder compression. If good run engine and unplug the fuel injector for #2 to see if the idle changes. no change means bad injector. also check for good spark at plug.

possible intake manifold leak.

2004 ford 6cly rough idle must keep giving gas

V6? does it get any better when it warms up? Does RPM rev hi to low or does it sit at one speed and shakes? Hows the plugs? first thing first, buy a can of carb/choke cleaner $ 5.00 . Remove any plastic motor cover plates that would expose the motor. Spray cleaner around the base of the intake manifold and all mating areas of the intake manifold. ( not into the air intake) does the motor rpm change or rev up? if yes, you have bad intake gasket. also spray and check all air (vacuum) hose connections for proper fit and no cracks. Check plugs and note color and condition of each and what cylinder it was from, a brown paper bag color is normal, a super clean look is lean possible coolant leak, a burnt or melted electrode is early detonation timing, oil carbon deposit bad rings or valve guides, seals, wet is to rich , air fuel mix. Several things cause this, check all seals, air lines first, air filter, cracked or split intake tube, gasket check, does it run rough at cold idle only ( possible temp sensor ) you can check alot of things to eliminate without spending cash,

2003 Ford Windstar 3.8 143k rough idle stalls & engine lite runs good after warmed up. Local yokel guessed at leaking intake gaskets. Any thoughts? [email protected]

I have a 2003 ford windstar.Engine started to run rough when it
used to rained.I would accelarate it until roughness would go away sort of.It lack a little power but if I take it a mechanic they would charged too much money.Anyway, the problem was a spark plug wire in front of the engine, wires that are grouped together with that little pin. One of them was rubbing agains the valve cover and it got worned out current would leak out right there.I discovery it one time that it rainned really hard I had to go out and the wagon started to miss really bad and it wouldn't move. Finally, I got home the next day I looked under the hood to see what I can see and there it was a spark plug wire that one can tell if you know a little bit about cars that current was leaking throw it. I replaced wire problem solved. But now after all of that snow we had the check engine light came on and I am not sure what could be.For I remmerber running over a mountain of sort of hard snow.So it probably broke oxigine sensor wire.

98 windstar 3.8litre runs very rough at low revs. error message #1 bank running lean. have changed cam sensor, plugs, plug wires, fuel filter and fuel injectors and o2 sensor on back 3 cylinders.

probably both banks are running lean it just hasnt flagged a code for bank2 yet.
sounds like a vacuum leak, with it running listen closely in the engine compartment try to locate it.
also you can use choke cleaner and spray around the intake manifold
and try to locate the leak.
be careful choke cleaner is flamable.

Yes it could be a vacuum leak at the intake manifold, could also be the MAF sensor (especially if you use a gauze/oil air filter).

Ford 150 runs rough when cold

check the engine for vacuum leaks at the intake manifold, u can do this with a bottle of propane, spray around the intake when it is rough and see if it smooths out, if it does u found the vacuum leak.
