Check fuse first. If that's good then either the gage is bad, the wiring is broken, or the fuel tank sender is bad. Fuel tank sender is most likely given the age of the car. You will probably have to drop the gas tank to check it. If you can pull the sender wire off the tank and ground it, the fuel gauge will go to either full or empty quickly as a test to see if the gauge and wiring are good. Replacing the sender in the tank is not hard to do, IF you can still get a new or good used sender. Your car is almost 40 years old after all.

Perhaps you might consider the sending unit in the gas tank.

The two wires that run from the sender unit at the gas tank do one of them connect to the ignition switch?

One of them should be connected to ignition feed. I don't know if you have a gage fuse in your fuse box? I won't have a wiring diagram for this model year.
One of those wires is voltage, I don't know if 12 volts? You can check it and see? If one or both wires have too much resistance, it can cause a problem. I can't rule out the fuel gage itself.

What is code p1443 on 96 thunderbird

PCV valve would have nothing to do with it !
P1443 - Very Small Or No Purge Flow Condition A fuel tank pressure change greater than a minus (-) 7 inches of H 2 O in 30 seconds has occurred with purge (fuel vapor) flow less than 0.02 pounds per minute.
  • Blocked fuel vapor hose between EVAP canister purge valve and FTP sensor.
  • Blocked fuel vapor hose between EVAP canister purge valve and engine intake manifold.
  • Blocked vacuum hose between EVAP canister purge valve-solenoid and engine intake manifold.
  • EVAP canister purge valve stuck closed (mechanically).
Check for blockages between the fuel tank, EVAP canister purge valve and engine intake manifold. Check obstructions in the EVAP canister purge valve diaphragm and ports.
Suggest you buy a repair manual if you want to try an fix yourself .Or Go to ford web site Ford Oem1stop com an pay 29 bucks for 72 hours for repair info . Or take it to a qualified repair shop an have it smoke tested . Or goolge purge valve for a pic. an see if you can find it under the hood .

1991 Ford Thunderbird V6 3.8 - Starting Issues

Maybe something wrong with inertia switch? Part of diagram so you can see inertia switch wire colors. How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? Also, use a gage check proper fuel pressure, my info says 35--45 psi. I've seen fuel pumps that would run, but wouldn't make proper fuel pressure. I'm not saying the fuel pump has a problem, at the moment, I don't know?

1986 ford thunderbird oil gauge on and beeping

I would check that the engine oil level is high, then I would check that the pressure is high enough by plugging a gauge into the oil pressure switch socket after removing the oil pressure switch.

There is a possibility that the oil pressure switch is bad, or the oil pump has failed, unfortunately.

1985 t-bird, fuel gauge constantly reads full

I really doubt it is the fuel gage. You can test the gage by hooking a C cell battery to the wires from the tank. If it pegs the gage is good. You will need to go to Ford to get the sending unit. I doubt they will have this in stock, but they will order it for you. I would not even consider an aftermarket sending unit. Stick to the original Ford part. You will be happier with the results.
