This indicator lamp is your check engine light. If this light has come on the vehicles computer has determined that there is a malfunction in the egine management. A few auto parts stores such as Autozone or Advanced Auto can scan these for what codes may be present the caused your light to come on. Once you know these codes you can post them in here and we may be able to assit you in correcting the issue that caused this.
I'd go to an auto parts store that will check for any diagnostic codes free of charge (autozone and advance auto both do) and if you have any codes, list them here and I can tell you their definitions and the most common solutions to fix them in detail if needed
Check engine light means, that your engine computer pick up a bad signal from one of your engine sensor, the engine will still run good because of back up sensor's,need to have a code reading done to find out what's wrong or it will damage other sensor's, you can go to any auto parts or autozone where they can do a code reading at no charge, get back to us with the code number, so we can help you diag. your trouble code.
There are over 100 sensors that can cause the check engine lamp to come on , retreiving the codes from the computer will be required to determine which part of the system the failure is in.
if low water a light would come on and tell you low coolant, but for the check engine light ,go to autozone, or local parts house they can check the code for free and tell what it means
Your check engine light means that your computer thinks that there is something wrong with one of your systems. It is producing a code for the problem, but you can not read the code unless an OBD-II scanner is plugged into the OBD socket under your dashboard. Autozone, or another of the same sort, would be happy to hook their scanner up to your car and tell you what the computer is saying is wrong. There is not charge.
Hope this helps you.
This indicates a problem with the engine that needs attention. If you take it to your local garage, they will put it on their computer and that will tell you what is wrong.
if it looks like a small engine that would be your check engine light. you can stop in at any autozone and have them scan the codes for free... they usually will tell you what is wrong with it.
Go to any Autozone and free of charge they will run the code for you, This will tell you "why" the engine light is on. If it's important - fix it or go to shop. If it's something that is minor and doesn't effect the trucks coming and going to next step. Hook up the code reader - again....see if the light comes back on. If it does then ask the Autozone employee if you hold the code reader. There is a "cancel" button to get rid of the code. You can delete the code. The Autozone is not supposed to erase the code. BUT HE CAN LOOK AWAY WHEN YOU DO IT!
if you buy this car and the check engine ligh come on one hr after you bought it that means the problem was there allready
take it back and have them fix it right,
but if not go to autozone for a free diagnose and tell me what the codes are and we go from there
