1987 Dodge Raider started cutting out going up hill. At first it would just pull back and buck back and forth. It never had a problem on the flat. Now it has a problem on the flat too and completely stalls out going up a hill and now wont start. It acts as though it is out of gas going up hill. The fuel line has been flushed thru and it has a manual fuel pump. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated I have the exact same problem as the one described above from August. Do you have an idea of the source of the problem? I use the vehicle as a hunting truck and if it is a serious repair it will probably sold for parts.

Fuel pressure from the fuel pump needs to be checked,it needs to be 4 to 7 pounds psi, also check the fuel filter, and the carburetor.Has the engine been tuned up,new plugs and plug wires ,and cap,and rotor?Check the vacuum advance ,or spark advance if it has this option.

I have a 1987 dodge raider 2.6 that won't start battery good starter good. Only getting 6 volts power to starter when key turned lights work buzzer ect....please help this is my teenage sons truck and he...

If you are only getting 6 volts from the battery to the starter it is only 1 of two things. The wire going from the battery to the starter is damaged or corroded and has to be replaced. Or the battery is no good. The battery may have 12 volts when you attach a voltmeter. Red on Red , Black on Black and this will make you think this battery is good as most people would. But when you apply a load to the battery the voltage may drop to the 6 volts therefor the starter when activated is now only receiving 6 volts which is not enough to start the engine. Have your battery loadtested and I will bet that this is the culprate

Engine cuts off when hot and will not start back until it cools.

Sounds like you need to replace the ignition coil, that is the most common problem to the ignition system that is heat generated.
