If you don t see any spark plug wires then your motor has coil packs(black colored boxwith 2 small electrical wires) located on top of motor 3 on one side,3 on the other.disconnect negative terminal on battery, then disconnect wire connector at each coil pack and remove 2 screws that hold down coil pack, pull gently straight up and plug is right there below coil pack

SOURCE: changing spark plugs

as you know the front ones are rather easy to get to, but the rear bank is a bear..the best way is on a lift but you can get to them using a 3/8 rachet a 3inch extension and the plug socket.. take the air tube off the throttle body.. reach under the throttle body behind the engine you will feel the plug wires that way.. once you get the wires off the plugs are a pain but changable..

I have a 96 dodge intrepid 3.5 and it has intermittent spark. tries to start but just won't

Change plugs and wires, also check coil. Take a plug out, reattach to wire, and place threads of plug on block, or other ground, then have someone start it, and see if you get a good strong spark, if so, everythings ok, if not, replace plugs wires or coil

Check engine light flashing

if the check engine light flashes than the pcm has detected a mis-fire with enough severity to cause catalyst damage.

you should have the vehicle scanned to fnd out which cylinder is mis-firing,

most likely cause is faulty spark plugs or spark plug wires.

good luck
