A/c unit packed in. Bearings have went so took the belt off it to stop it running as I figured I don't need Air con anyway. But with it removed my heaters are only blowing cold air out, temperature needle doesn't lift at all. Also noticed the radiator fans come on as soon as the car is started and don't go off! I've checked all the levels and everything seems fine. The pipes on the radiator are all heating up and so is the engine but the fans in the car still blow cold. Any ideas what could be wrong?

The a/c compressor is wired in the heater system put an a/c unit back on

  • keith_carrut Dec 21, 2010

Spoken to a Subaru specialist and they say that the heaters should work fine with the A/c disconnected. Think I may just have to take it in for someone to have a look at it.

Air con cool for a few days then won't get cool, stop and restart all good

Cars for years have been using a serpentine belt. The compressor only works if the belt is spinning. With the engine running check to make sure the belt is spinning consistently. The alternator or the water pump could be seizing up causing the belt to stop. Check your idler as well. Tension on the belt could be loose and again not turning everything.

How are the bearings of a 2002 jeep cherokee made? like, are they packed or do they run on rear end oil?

I don't know of any bearing in smaller truck that run in rear end grease. If you look at the plug for the oil level you will probably find that they don't really run it high enough to oil the axle bearings properly anyway. I never tore a Jeep down but Chevy Ford both have pressed on sealed bearings. Tear it down if it is running hot you need to do something anyway. That will be a good way to find out. Please rate my answer so I am rewarded points for it.

Making an odd noise, and I can't figure out what it is...

Make sure the belt is tight. You can try spraying some belt conditioner on the ribbed side with the engine running. It can also be pulley bearings--especially the idler. Try spraying a little oil on the accessory bearings with the engine running. If the chirping stops where you spray, replace that part.

We have a 2007 CX7 and the air conditioning is not working well on either recirc or outside air in low ambient temps. When idling at the lights the air con becomes worse. There is no belt sqeal, and I dont...

When you have a moment pop the bonnet and look for the air con compressor run by a automotive belt on the side of the engine. Get the engine running at idle and then get someone else to turn the air con on whilst you watch the compressor. As the system is turned on the compressor clutch should engage and the unit should start turning, if this isn't happening there isn't enough pressure in the system (leak or just low on pressure) Get to your local air con guy and they will pressure test for leaks. Air con system is run on pressure, so that is really the issue you need to rectify

Note:- Manufacturers put the air con rad infront of the engine rad so stones get to that first, check the condition of the front rad through your bumper

So when you turn off the air con the noise stops ..
If yes then its the bearings in the Air Con pump which is driven by the same belt and when turning the r13 coolant around the bearings being dry and worn out will start to make the noise Same as the water pump does when it goes, but yours is Air Con Pump.

Broken v belt and pulley for air conditioning .I am getting conflicting information about replacing the air con pulley. Can the air con pulley be supplied on it's own part or do I have to buy the power...

I would put the whole unit with the pulley because you will need special tools that cost more than the money you would save to remove the old pulleys, also the bearings may be damaged.-why did the belt break! I would look very closley at you crankshaft damper and make sure the rubber insert did not come apart and groove out your front cover- it is a common problem with these type of engines. also your compressor has no clutch it is a continuos running compressor that changes the stroke of the pistion via a wobble plate so I think the only way to get this compressor is with a clutch. Every p.s. pump I have replaced on that model always came with a pulley on it-you just need to swap the reservoirs and install a new "0' ring.

How to remove radiator from model fitted with air con

You have to remove the bumper and remove the radiator from the front, first time I did it it took me many hours but with practice, I replaced mine thrice and might have to again, it goes quickly. Is your car an auto because there is a auto trans cooler that you have to disconnect.
