I have a 97 rav4 and just changed all wheel bearing, front and back. However, i hear this humming sound everytime I drive and the mechanic is telling me that I need to change the rear wheel bearing. But I just changed them!!! Anyone had similar "humming" sounds after changing the wheel bearing and figured out what type of problem this might be?

SOURCE: Changing of front wheel bearing

i assume u want to both inner and outer bearings...you have to pull the whell off the caliper for the brakes has to come off, there will be a center cap on the hub,,take ot off, inside there you will find a nuts with a cotter pin in it.remove it.gently pull on the hub abd iit should come off in your hands.the outer bearings will come out always remember to repack them with grease before you replace them the inner bearings will be behind the rotor and will have to be chanfed also as well as greased, you have to do this on both sides the same process.put it back together the same way you take it apart

SOURCE: My 2002 rav4 4AWD make sound ("DUK DUK DUK") on the steering wheel

Hi

The noise from the front could be one of the drop links or one of the bottom ball joints amongst other things, and the noise from the back could indeed be a rear wheel bearing, and it could also be an underinflated tyre.

Very best regards

SOURCE: Front wheel noise

Does this knocking noise mostly happen when you are turning the car? If so this is caused by a worn CV joint. It's not an expensive fix, but I would rather go to a mechanic than attempt it without prior knowledge of how to repair this. I hope this helps.

It is a wheel bearing issue. consider servicing your wheels and brakes.

I have this strange groan or humming sound which seems to come from the front wheel drive, as i am mechanic i have changed the trans oil, recoed the power strg pump, as well as jacked the front wheels and...

pull the front wheel bearings as they may be starting to fail or need new grease .or adjustment. drive the car slowly turning the wheel to almost full lock and see if you can hear a clicking sound ( CV joints needing replacement) . The humming sound will be from a harmonic vibration so check that the drive axles are dead straight and not bent marginally.. Check that where the axles are in the diff that the bearings/bushes are not worn allowing the drive shaft to wobble slightly at speed.. If the tread pattern is anything but highway (Partially off road or snow ) then the tread pattern may be a contributing factor.

Strange humming sound from front wheel drive camry,i being a mechanic , i checked with tcar on jacks and the front heel sfree, and there was no sound , but the moment i drive it ,it starts making this

It could be the hub bearing. Once the car is on the ground, the weight puts more load on the wheels. See if the noise changes when driving while turning the steering wheel

Reason for humming noise even after changing wheel bearings of car

Depending on how the noise is affected by your driving, it could be an axle joint or the differential in the transaxle.
If it is coming from the back instead of the front you may still need hub bearings.

Humming sound while driving

if the noise changes if you swerve on the road it would lead towards a wheel bearing if it stays the same rotate the tires and see if the noise changes to the rear

Will the front driveshaft cause humming if it is free wheeling

The noise your hearing is most likely a hub bearing It will look like axle shaft is moving because the bearing is what the axle sits into if the noise changes when driving and turn wheel to left and right if so if you turn left and noise changes then your right frt bearing is bad and vise a versa.

There is a humming sound front the front right side when you are driving. it lessens as you decrease your speed. it does not hum at an ilde or if you rev it up

Sound's like a wheel bearing on the way out. To check jack up the wheel with a hand tthe top and other on the bottom try shaking the wheel in aqnd out. If their is'nt movement then with it in nutral spin the wheel with your hand you should hear it. Another tip and this has happened to me I changed a front wheel bearing still had the hum. Took it back and told the autofactors it was faulty.Got another one same hum. A friend came with me on the second trial put the passenger side window down and listned he said he thought it was the back. Jacked up the back and sure enough it was the problem. So don't feel I'm trying to offend you but it happened to me so thought it better to pss it on. Hope I was of help to you.Cheers

Humming sound from front right wheel

I am sure this is a worn wheel bearing, the giveaway is the sound change when you turn.
