I have the correct answer for you, but it is probably not what you want to hear. A 2001 Cadillac Deville has NO self-programming procedures for remotes. You can add transponder keys if you have the master key, otherwise you need to go to a professional to get them programmed because they need special equipment to communicate with the vehicle.

I would suggest a locksmith before the dealer as they are usually more affordable. We always recommend an ALOA (Associated Locksmiths of America) member, as their code of ethics means they will treat you fair.

Either via an actual theft attempt or you (or someone with your keys) not realizing that you/they actually armed the vehicle and opened the door or trunk afterwards.

Essentially this sounds like the vehicle was entered after being armed and the proper precedures not met to reset it.

The car may just need to be locked from the outside with the key (not the remote or keyless entry) while the doors are closed and windows are up, and then also unlocked with the key...

You may want to check all your fuses and replace the ones affected by the anti theft system.
Security - Pwr Locks - Horn - Pwr Trunk Release _ Int Lights - and maybe The Emergency Flasher as well.

Be sure and check under the Dash, Hood and under the Back seat.

Cadillac recommends after a theft attempt, the vehicle may need to be serviced. So I recommend going through the fuses first, even replacing the battery in your remote fob and then if the problems still persist. have the vehicle serviced.

Hello: The keyless entry feature was NOT a factory option available on the 1989 Cadillac SedandeVille. If you have keyless entry it has to be after market. you will have to find out who made the add on unit and how to program it. SORRY

Stand bext to the car, engine off key out of ignition switch hold the lock and unlock buttons down at the same time for ten seconds if the locks do not lock then unlock it is NOT a re-sync problem. Make sur the battery is good and installed correctly If none of this works then you need to take car in for diagnosis of the keyless entry system. perfer a Cadillac dealer

TRY REPLACING THE PULL DOWN SWITCH BEFORE REPLACING THE COMPLETE UNIT. IN 33 YEARS CAD EXPERIENCE WERE A COMMON FAILURE

should be one in the engine compartment near the battery. it will or should have a cover on it.

Under vehicle, driver side, below seating area, front of fuel tank, mounted on chassis in fuel lin.

Go inside your glove copartment and turn off the valet button located on the left hand side when yor open the glove compartment

your vallet button is pushed mine is in thhe glove box turn it off i thought i needed a battery 2 good luck

Try checking that wire to see if its getting juice.
