Hi ,
Didn't think you would have to adjust the timing on a Corolla for any reason ! If you've no fuel (most likely) it's never going to start. Spray some engine start or even (WD40 in extreme case) to check for firing . Most 17 year old cars will have almost every componant near it's end of working life ! Toyota's can be a exception .............. Good Luck

Testimonial: "cheers mate i adjusteds the timing and it seems to be running ok. its old and fucked so just gonna let it limp on till the rego expires and scrap it. "

Idle pulsation. If my car needs 02 sensors, does it affect the idle?

The O2 Sensor only effects the idle to a very small degree

A worn sensor is one that switches slowly & thus effects
the PCM,s abiltiy to correctly adjust fuel injector pulse
width or timing.

Looking for info on how to adjust the fuel mixture and Idle on a 1969 Corvette 427 400 HP Tri-power 3x2 carburetor.

That engine runs at low speed, starts and idles on the center carb only. first make sure the carbs are synchronized so the front and rear ones are fully closed at idle, then adjust idle speed and mixture on the center carb. Sweet ride by the way, if you get tired of working on it and want to get rid of it I will take it. LOL

How do you adjust the idol on a 92 mazda miata. It idols ok until I turn the air off them the car dies. Thanks Shelley

Shelley,
This gentleman has written a pretty good guide for checking and adjusting your ignition timing and idle - http://www.mx5oc.co.uk/forum/forums/t/208.aspx
Try adjusting your idle - I wouldn't be surprised if this is not your problem (or only problem). If the idle is still drooping (or cutting out), you might like to think about checking, cleaning or replacing your air filter, cleaning your throttle body and possibly checking the correct function of your two clutch switches which can all cause similar problems.
The clutch switch problem is becoming somewhat more common now - have you tried idling the car without A/C? Then experiment with doing the same with the clutch depressed and then with the clutch depressed and a gear selected...if one of these combinations stops your idle problem, you'll probably find one of the clutch switches is dead. The purpose of the switches and the reason for the problem is a little complicated - if this turns out to be the case, reply and I'll try to explain it properly.

Rough idle

Yes, the first thing you should do is have the timing checked and adjusted. If the problem persist you may have to have someone adjust your idle speed.
