I have a Nissan Cefiro /Maxima A33 Model. Am having problem with the Electronically controlled transmission (ECT). The vehicle drives perfectly well and changes all gears 1 - 4. Occassionally while driving, it, all of a sudden stops chnging gears. In other words I notice the revs going up with NO change in gears. I'd stop my vehicle and then run all the gears while the car is stationary. The I 'd drive off and find that the problem is fixed - sometimes only. Other times the problem would still be there. After leaving the car parked for, say, 10 minutes or so then when I drive off again, I find that all gears change perfectly normally. The problem is intermittent. It does NOT continue or stay for long. What's the problem, Sir ? When the problem starts the vehicle goes into "neutral" BUT when I lower the speed and drive it engages into 1st gear but does not change any further, i.e; does not change to 2nd, 3rd or 4th. Please help me fix my problem as a proud NSSAN CUSTOMER. I am frustrated driving a modern exotic vehicle and very disappointed when this problem kicks in especially when I have occupants in my car who I boast of my Nissan Cefiro 3.0 ltr GV ( Top Of The Range Model). Secondly, I also have an intermittent (once again not continuous) problem with my A/C. It cools perfectly normally. After switing off my car and resume driving after a temporary stop, it does nor cool. I play with the controls and sometimes the problem is fixed it it works perfectly normally. Help me fix this problem too please.

Hi,

I had the same problem with my transmission and the issue was with the Revolution Sensor on the transmission box.

Replaced it myself and the issue is permanently resolved.

Hi,

Did you ever find a solution to this problem?

I have the same problem with my 2004 Nissan Cefiro and have replaced the speed sensor already, however the problem still persist.

Nissan Cefiro A33 vs Toyota corolla 121 G vvti

OK, first you need to know the specs of both cars to have a guided guess. It is simple, find he the Horsepower (hp) for both, and the wiegh in pounds (Lb). Then for each car Divide the weight by the horsepower Lb/Hp and this will giive you how many pounds every horsepower has to carry. Compare results for both cars and the one with less pounds for each horsepower will have better chances of wining. Remember this is just a guided guess, since it works for cars in ideal perfect condition. There are other things which can change the results. One can be the hability of the driver to drive and to react in the start line.
You can help yourself by having your car loose weigh. For example, go to the race with a minimal amount of gas. Gas is heavy. Race alone in your car. Good Luck!! Be careful.

Sounds to be in the light switch itself, But also be sure to check fuse as well as ground source.

1999 nissan maxima wont start replaced starter, cam senor and check engine light would blink then stay on

Hello

The Engine and Automatic Transmission (not applicable to manual transmissions) in this vehicles drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM and TCM (Power Train Control Module, Transmission Control Module). When a problem like this or other drive-ability related problems occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. Also always check fuel pressure for correct spec for your make and engine type.
