This is usa forum and car is UK
our cars are diffr here, in many ways.
not withstanding that fact, ill answer, for USA cars.
fuse 21 loose>? the ignition switch power feeds 21 and 21 feeds power to cluster, gauges. tacho, temp fuel and VSS sensor.
DTCs
P0500 Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction
P0501 Vehicle Speed Sensor Range/Performance
P0502 Vehicle Speed Sensor Circuit Low Input
P0503 Vehicle Speed Sensor Intermittent/Erratic/High
(usa OBD2 codes yours may be different but words same)

stopped working does this mean the speedo needle is stuck at 0 kmh?
if it does not move at all moving, the cable is snapped.
or gear on far end of cable is bad or its key stripped as many do.
we check that the cable inside turns, as car moves (on stands)
if it moves and cluster at 0, the cluster is bad.
the transaxle is the source of the cable drive.

i think it has 2 problems.
bad fuse21 or key switch
and bad cable.
fuse 21 runs the fuel gauge. all gauges, but speed.

This sounds like the instrument cluster has gone faulty, unfortunately. With any luck, you might be able to find a replacement at a scrap yard somewhere to at least save some money. Otherwise, the dealership is the only other place in which to purchase one of these.

I hope this helps and good luck! :)

Gas gauge b.roken

a Suzuki swift in snakes clothing... or varies? just a hint helps.
which way is needle going, too high or low.?
did you do the 2 tests in the FSM.? for said gauge>
ground the fuel guage wire, and guage goes to max
then check the sender ohms (DMM dial to resistance)
here is the method. only the wire color change. if at all.
login to alldata.com
this is tracker but is near same.

http://www.fixkick.com/sensors/fuel-gauge-tests.html

https://suzukipitstopplus.com/Products/1114-1994-swift-service-manual.aspx
$4
remove clusters.

the cluster shell 4 screws, see em. remove em.
the see cluster? see the 4 screws at edge, same deal.
the speedo cable is the only hard part, but why do all that.?
why not do the 5 sec. test.

i looked at my huge files for metro/swift and no gauge pages.
have all the others.
one way to do this test, is pull the wire to the tank and ground it.
gauge goes to FULL.
gage is good. (fail , then)
if you do that at the gauge, and it works then the wire from
guage to tank are open. (Low all time) if FULL all time, wire is shorted to the body.

My speedometer on my Suzuki swift 57 plate has stopped working. A few moments later the engine symbol come on, the mpg, car temperature reading is showing dashes and the mileage is not moving. The car...

This sounds like it may be due to a bad speed sensor but the best way to find the problem is to have the codes from the engine light read, the computer stores codes that will tell you what has failed, there are many auto part stores that will scan the computer and give you the codes, the code will tell you what has failed, if you can give me the code i could help you better. good day.

Speedo not working , vw golf 2001 .

I tell you for sure that is the sensor problem from gearbox.the sensor, or the wire. The fuel gauge is connected to the gearbox because is not very nice to corner and the fuel gauge go up and down. Now because the fuel gauge "didn't know" how many miles did you made, he is moving up and down. All recent cars have the same problem, and had the same problem on my girlfriend Golf 4. It was the wire. The mecanic forgot to put it back.

I have a 1990 swift sedan and my fuel gauge stopped working, needle stays on the E even when it has fuel?

the the sending unit in the tank with an ohm meter
it should read 8 ohms when full and zero when empty

the hook ups to do this will be the green wire to one probe and just ground the other probe to the chassis
