Are you saying the camshaft pulley turns but the camshaft doesn't? If so, do you think the key or the key slot is damaged in pulley or camshaft? Something to check?
Doesn't have a EGR valve ! Has Camshaft Actuator System .
Camshaft Actuator System Description
The camshaft position (CMP) actuator system is used for a variety of engine performance enhancements. These enhancements include lower emission output through exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) control, a wider engine torque range, improved gas mileage, and improved engine idle stability. The CMP actuator system accomplishes this by controlling the amount of intake and exhaust valve overlap. For the 6.0 liter (LY6, L76) and the 6.2 liter (L92) engine, the Park position for the CMP actuator and camshaft is 8.5 degrees before top dead center (BTDC) or 17 crankshaft degrees BTDC. The engine control module (ECM) can only command the CMP actuator to retard the valve timing from the Park position or advance the valve timing back to the Park position. The total range of valve timing authority is 31 degrees camshaft rotation, or 62 degrees of crankshaft rotation. The control range is from the Park position of 8.5 degrees camshaft or 17 degrees crankshaft BTDC, to 22.5 degrees camshaft or 45 degrees crankshaft after top dead center (ATDC).
A code P0300 may mean that one or more of the following has happened: Faulty spark plugs or wires.. Faulty coil (pack)... Faulty oxygen sensor(s)... Faulty fuel injector(s)... Burned exhaust valve... Faulty catalytic converter(s)... Stuck/blocked/leaking EGR valve / passages... Faulty camshaft position sensor.... Defective computer
Apparently there is a tensioner that is not keeping the belt taught and it is not centered correctly on the pulleys. Or the pulley itself could be cracked warped or nicked.. Check out all the components carefully. A small nick or crack can cause the belt to chafe and run off the pulley and snap.
Yes, normally what happen is it throw out the valve timing. That is, one or two
piston could be effected here with its related intake and exhaust valves. What
could happen, broken piston tops, bent valves or broken valves.
Since, the 2000 Lincoln has a 4.6 litre V8 engine it will double over head
cams. This mean each side of the engine on this V8 has it own camshaft. Also,
Ford could have installed a cam brake, that is if the timing is lost, it will
stop all valves in both heads to a close position. I hope so, some 4 cylinder
have this option.
If the engine doesn't have a camshaft brake then major overhaul. It would be
easier to buy an rebuilt factory engine to install. A good engine remanufacture
that rebuild engine for Ford, Chevy, Dodge, and other auto manufactures would be
you best bet. In other words, they rebuild those engines the way Ford wants them
to be rebuilt. Best of luck. GB...stewbison
If the timing belt snapped, try to open ur valve cover, on top of ur engine, turn /rotate ur CAMSHAFT PULLEY and look at the valve if it still follows ur camshaft, going up and down.
If it just been stuck and can't roate ur camshaft u have bent VALVES!
Either u replace the entire valve set or u could buy in the junkyard the WHOLE CYLINDER HEAD assembly! Its ur choice, wutever is more cheaper!
Then replace the timing belt, tensioner bearing and the head gasket!
Next time, follow the manufacturer's recommended maintenance period of 70,000km to replace timing belt!
Hope that helps u out!
Taah!
i mean... Meow!
The list your book gives you are all things that will cause a knocking noise. Only way to fix is to open her up. If you were having overheating issues before this happened then it could have damaged any of those except pump.
sounds like your timing belt may have slipped or snapped a ceased timing belt adjuster could cause this check your timing belt and adjuster and all belt adjustment pulleys before you fix the valves otherwise its bound to happen againalso make sure your engine oil is full
