Question about 1996 Subaru Legacy
My lights would dim at stop lights, so I replaced my stock 75A alternator with a 110A from NAPA. I also bought the best battery they had.

The best way to check this is to use your voltmeter on the battery when the engine is running. with the headlights and climate control system on you should see voltmeter readings as high as 13.2 to 13.5 volts.
The only other way is to load test the battery at the cold cranking amperage printed on the battery. Or use a clamp on ammeter on the positive battery cable to see if the alternator is providing power to the battery.
