My 1996 gmc sierra with a 4.3 vortec in it seems like its missing, even though i changed the spark plugs and wires, distributor cap and rotor it worked very well after i did that and now its back like its missing again. i took the plugs back out and check them and they all are firing. im kinda wondering if its anything to do with the intake now?

Does it miss at idle or going down the road, maybe both? Any applicable trouble codes? If you have that spider fuel system, I usually suspect that first. That system is noted for problems.
You could try a cylinder balance test, engine idling, you could kill the cylinders one at a time, quickly. If you kill a cylinder that has no effect on the idle, the cylinder is dead. Then you have to decide if problem is spark--fuel--compression on that cylinder.

SOURCE: 1987 GMC Jimmy Distributor cap and Rotor replacement

A diagram may not be needed as its a reasonably easy fix to do on your own.the distributor ca p will only fit on properly one way because at the base of the cap locaters can only fit the distributor if they line up.When doing the spark plug leads do them one at a time and if nessecary write or mark leads as 1,2 etc .The rotor can only fit on one way but put a mark on the distributor to show where the rotor was pointing when you took it off and if it still points there when the new one is fitted. When changing distributor cap and leads they have to go to the correct place.Pays to mark the outside of distributor cap where the locating bits are On the new and old one.Fit the new cap and rotor then take a spark plug lead and fit to new cap 1 at a time. You can tell by lining up the marks on the outside of the distributor cap when you hold them one on top of the other.Good luck

1994 GMC 1500 Sierra 4.3 will not start acted like out of time so I replaced cap rotor plugs check plug wires .also replaced timing chain and gears even though no problem also changed ecm any ideas

The distributor gear. It wears down and causes rough idling to no start. Pull the distributor, look where the rotor button is pointing as it needs to go in the exact same position. you can get just the gear and replace it. it is held in by a drive pin. Push it out and swap gears and reuse the drive pin. hammer it in.

97 gmc 2500 5.7l vortec, won't start, fuel pump works, tried using starting aid and nothing, hooked up a scan tool, and no errors came up, could it be the crank position sensor? or the distribution centre...

See if you have spark on at least two plug wires. If you do, but it is weak, you may just need a good tune up (plugs, wires, distributor cap, and distributor rotor). If you don't have spark or it is only on one wire, take the distributor cap off and see if the distributor is turning while someone turns the key. If it doesn't spin, you need a distributor because the bottom gear is broken or stripped. If it does spin, then it could be the coil, ignition module, crank sensor, fuse or wiring to any of these parts. It will take a lot of wire testing and diagnostics to figure out which part it is if it isn't just a simple tune up or distributor.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

1996 gmc sierra not firing when weather is damp replaced distributor and cap rotorbutton

try changing the spark plugs and spark plug wires that may help...but first to be sure try following the ignition system from top to bottom...first try holding a spark plug wire half an inch away from your engine block and let somebody else try cranking the engine if you can't see a spark then try that with the wire connecting the coil with the distributor if there is still no spark than the coil needs to be changed
