2003 Chevy Suburban, Put it into drive, went about ten feet and then heard a clunking noise and the truck wouldn't move forward. Put into reverse to move out of road, let idle and the truck moved slowly backwards, but heard light clunking a couple of times. The engine sounds good, the clunking sounded from underneath. Husband is deployed, looking for answers before taking to dealership. Thanks

SOURCE: while driving truck makes a humming sound in drive now no reverse

If you have no reverse then yes it needs to be rebuilt. as far as the whining it could be in one of the differentials. or in trans? just depends on where you hear it

SOURCE: 1999 Chevy Silverado with clunking/jerking in the back

It sounds like your 4WD is still engaged and you need to have it serviced. It's common for the 4wd to get stuck in the on position with the button pushed to the 2wd mode. As you turn the front wheels are binding with the rear wheels. There is a vacuum switch on top if the transfer case on the drivers side that may have gone bad and needs to be replaced. You can pick it up at Auto Zone for $25.00 and $85.00 at the dealer, there is three vacuum hose attached to it that needs to be disconnected and then the switch can be un screwed from the transfer case like a spark plug.. Good luck and hope this helps. keep me posted, be glad to answer any question you may have.

Sad to say but your automatic transmission has bit the dust.

I lost reverse on my 1994 chevy suburban 454, but forward gears work....help?

You start buy pulling the unit out & having it
rebuilt

There is no other fix, but to completely strip your
trans & go thru it.

If the truck is not on the second trans in 18 years,
I would be surprised

Be thankfully you don't have a transaxle, they never
make 100,000 miles & in some case only a few years.

2003 Chevy Malibu LS. The problem is an intermittent clunking noise that happens during turns, especially when going in reverse and at slow speeds. There is a single clunk during the turn, and another...

Most likely you have a bad drive axle, each drive axle has 2 universal joints and when they get worn they make a big clunk sound. Especially turning or going from forward to reverse.
