Question about BMW 3 Series
Check if happening at specific settings on the fan. Fans use resisters to slow down their speed. Typically the lowest setting will mess up before the highest. If coming a going means you change the speed and it goes away.
If it doesn't matter what speed, there is probably something in your vents. Do you park outside? Mice love getting into warm cars on cold nights, and build nests... a nice comfy place can be in vents...
Or have very small kids... mine used to love putting things in the vents and have them disappear! Could be cherios

SOURCE: BMW E90 323I, ABS resetting.
hey hassa, if you swapped an ABS control unit from another vehicle, it needs to be coded to your vehicle. If your vehicle does not recognize the replacement vin, it will set a fault. also, make sure to have the ABS sensors calibrated after the control unit is coded. most dealers charge about 1hr labor to perform coding and sensor calibration.

I have the same problem on an X3. It sounds like crickets chirping. It has been there for years, and when the car was under warranty BMW said they don't fix working things for just noise. I believe it is the bearings on the fan- there are youtube videos on how to change it but it looks like a major pain to do so. The good news is it will probably continue to chirp so turn up the music or pretend the chirping means summer has arrived
