Random Misfire , Code 300 on OBD Scanner .

I just bought a 2005 A4 Audi Avant 3.0 at 60K couple months ago and I drove it today , the MIL was on and the car started shaking whenever I tried to speed up. A friend of mine who has OBD scanner told me that I have Code 300 which is random misfire. What cause this problem and what should I do before I take it to the dealership. Thanks.

i have had the same problem three times, i bought a 2004 audi a4 3.0 and every time i try to speed up it shakes and is non responcive i replaced one of the coil packs, then after a week the problem started again, i had all 6 sparkplugs repaced, this solved the problem for another week, now im having the problem again, what could it be?

Same problem thinking of pulling the battery and letting it reset. From what I know of small engines they rarely are the problem. It always seems to be the carbs.

Hi,
Thanks for the response.
I took my car to the shop and had the coil packs replaced, out of 6 coil packs were dead.

What are these error codes p118,p0440,p0101,p0300,p4401

118, replace the coolant sensor. 440 is a small leak for EVAP. Could be as simple as replace the gas cap. 101 could be the MAF sensor or wiring to it. 300 is random misfire, needs to be on a scanner, Could be related to MAF sensor. 4401 is not a valid engine code.

Login code engine A4 AVANT 2.5TDI V6?

It's different for every car after 2002ish. You need Vag Can Commander or similar software to extract the SKU surreptitiously if you are not an official dealership.

2003 Audi A4 1.8T Check Engine light on

The CEL means there is a Diagnostic Fault Code stored in the Engine Control Unit. There are 1000's of DTC's, so you will need to have it read by a Code Reader. Auto Parts stores like Auto Zone, Pep Boys, perhaps even Advanced Auto often will read the code for you; but by law they cannot clear the codes. Many codes do not cause drivability problems, severe ones will trigger the ECU to run in a Limp Mode, which would require repair work before any trip longer than a few miles. Hope this is helpful.

OBD 2 code showing 300 & 301 cylinder misfire

there are alot of components that can throw those codes.... as a test pull one wire from the coil pack and note if the engine idle changes... replace it and move to the next one... repeat that for all cyclinders.... if you pull one and there are no changes you have likely located the cause.
