Symptoms - Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- No throttle response Possible Causes - Harness or connector (The TP sensor circuit is open or shorted.)
- Electric Throttle Control Actuator (or Throttle Body Motor)
- Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APP) P0220 Description Electric Throttle Control Actuator consists of throttle control motor, throttle position (TP)sensor, etc. The throttle position sensor responds to the throttle valve movement.
The throttle position sensor has the two sensors. These sensors are a kind of potentiometers which transform the throttle valve position into output voltage, and emit the voltage signal to the ECM. In addition, these sensors detect the opening and closing speed of the throttle valve and feed the voltage signals to the ECM. The ECM judges the current opening angle of the throttle valve from these signals and the ECM controls the throttle control motor to make the throttle valve opening angle properly in response to driving condition.
When is the code detected? An unexpected voltage from the TP sensor is sent to ECM.

2000 volvo s70 code 220

2000 Volvo S 70 with code po220, this code is for the TPS1. you will need to have the throttle position sensor (TPS) tested , a scan tool will be very helpful with this, i would have a shop look at it and test it,

You may need to have it replaced or adjusted if adjusting can be done, sometimes the tps is non-adjustable , the wiring will also need to be checked and tested, good day.

1990 chrysler new yorker will not shift into overdriver

You may have to have your ******/computer ran for any codes to give you a better idea of why it is limp mode. There are many causes of limp mode. A sensor or solenoid or bad wire will send the computer into limp mode. The TPS and map sensor both can affect limp mode

I spoke to Mitsubishi and they have told me the TPS (throttle positioning sensor) is on the accelorator pedle assembly. There PN for this is MN125791 and its circa £88 + VAT. SAME STORY--INTREPID IN LIMP MODE

Double check for clean/good connections at TP sensor, then disconnect battery for a minute or so, to erase codes, and see if anything changes.
