I replaced fuel pump and relay switch Sometimes when you turn key you can hear relay switch clicking and pump working then truck satarts, Runs fine . Try start it again and it just turns over , there's no clicking noise from relays or fuel pump. I;m thinking bad ignition swiotch

Not enough fuel pressure to injectors,replace with a new pump and filter.

Change the fuel pump its faulty.

If you can't hear your fuel pump priming then either, the pump needs replacing or the relay. If you replace the relay and you still don't hear the pump prime then it's the fuel pump.

Listen for the fuel pump to run a couple of seconds when you turn the key just to 'on'. Sometimes the fuel pump is inside the gas tank, so it is not very loud.
If you don't hear the fuel pump, locate the fuel pump relay and have someone listen for it to click when you turn the switch to 'on'. If it doesn't click, it's probably bad.
Don't buy a off-brand relay, get a genuine factory replacement.

The fuel pump wires are positive: pink/black and negative=black. Pull the connector, turn the key on, and check these with a test light. Your pump power runs through the PCM.

Listen for the pump to come on when you turn the key to on. If it doesn't come on, find the relay in the engine compartment and see if the relay clicks when you turn the key on. If the relay doesn't click, replace the relay or try switching it with another one that is the same kind. If the relay is OK, and you can't hear the pump come on, your pump is probably bad.
If you can hear the pump, it might still be bad. You need to get a pressure test to make sure it is making pressure. An easy way to see if you are getting some fuel pressure is to find the fuel filter and loosen the nut on the engine side of the filter. In this way, you are checking both the pump and the filter. With the key on, loosen the connection carefully until gas starts to squirt out. Quickly tighten in back. If you loosen it all that way and get no gas, try loosening the connection on the other side of the filter. If neither side has gas, your pump is bad. If onlt the back side has gas, replace the filter. Any questions, please reply.

It is most likely the Ignition switch. I have replaced several for this exact simptoms.
To check it, you test the power for the fuel pump relay.
When the ign switch starts acting up it will not power up the fuel pump relay portion of the fues box.
You can check it with a test light.
On a day when it starts and runs fine, pull the fuel pump relay, turn key on and probe the socket with test light and make note which ones have power to them.
Then one day, when it dont start, dont turn the key off yet, pull the relay, and retest, and compare.
If there is no power where there used to be power, replace the ignition switch.

the fuel pump relay should be located in the under hood fuse box just replace the relay with a new one

Well when you turn the keys on the pump will only run for a few seconds A test light works ok but i would use a volt meeter at th efuel pump power and groung wires and measure the voltage while cranking the car

ok, this is a commom problem with this 92 hondas,

it may be the pump fuel relay, which is under the dash on the driver side by the fuse panel.

here is a way to determine that.

when you turn the key on the on position

do you hear the fuel pump running while the engine light is on, and does the pump stop running afteer the engine light goes off?

if you do hear the pump running then it means that fuel pump is working fine ( since it way just replaced), but if you don't hear it running while the check engine light is on ( about 2 seconds) chances are the fuel pump relay is not working as it should.


also there are clicks that have to be heard on the starting process.

1 when you turn key to on possition

2 when the check engine light goes off( a click has to be heard just after it goes off)

3 after the car starts

If you don't hear this clicks, try to get your ear close the location of the fuel pump relay( near the fuse panel under the dash).


the fuse relay is just a bunch of circuits soldered, so you can get it to someone who knows how to solder and fix it.

or just get a replacement one at any junkyard. ( cheapp)
