2005 Pontiac Gran Prix 140000 miles. The engine icon on the face plate of the speedometer at the lower right came on, (Not the Check Engine light),. What would cause this icon to come on? I had it reset but it came back on after having driven it 30 - 40 minutes. The ambient temperature was about 40-45 F and the gran prix temperature gage did not appear to be rising to the temperature it normally attained.

This one? That is the check engine light.

2005 Pontiac Gran Prix 140000 miles. The engine - airjer995_22.jpg

Sounds like you may have a code for insufficient engine operating tempurature. This is usually caused by a bad thermostat. Its pretty common to see this problem on newer GM vehicles. A new thermostat will take care of it 99% of the time.

To find the thermostat follow the upper hose to the engine. The thermostat will be behind the metal housing that the hose attaches to on the engine.

On my 2002 Pontiac Gran Prix the Check Engine light is on. I had it diagnosed and they said it was teh "vapor Canister Valve" Additionally, when the check engine light came on , the gas guage...

for the fuel problem its the float in the tank. it may have a whole in it or just worn out. as for the vapor canaster, it would be a lot cheaper if you can find a good one at a wrecking yard. every penny counts now days. have a good day !

How do i replace a starter on a 2000 Pontiac gran prix, what do I need to do !

The starter is located at the front of the engine at the engine to transmission mounting surface.

Disconnect negative battery cable.

Raise and support the vehicle to give access to underside of engine.

Remove main battery cable from starter solenoid (large cable 13mm nut) and solenoid "S" terminal wire (8mm nut) Both at back of solenoid.

Remove inspection plate, usually 10mm screws, one in front and one up from bottom.

Remove the two 15mm starter mount bolts.

Reverse proceedure to install.

2005 Pontiac Gran Prix blower does not work. I check the fuse at HVAC fuse at the end of the dashboard and it is OK. The switch itself activates the AC light on and off when I turn it...

Check the blower motor which is behind the right side of the dash, in the lower right side of the HVAC Assembly, above foot area of the passenger floor. The other thing to test is the blower motor resistor which should be next to the blower motor.
