Take an ohm meter to the brake switch and all wiring to the brakes to determine the short. Looking and listening just doesn't do it
Ohm meters can be purchased for ten dollars and lesser amounts and come with instructions
It is a trouble shooter for cars and appliances at home

Do the blinkers work? If the same bulbs work as brake lights also work as blinkers, the wires for them are routed through the turn signal switch. If that switch is bad, you won't have brake lights.
You are going to need a wire diagram to test the wires. Posting a diagram would violate copyright so you'll have to purchase your own. You can buy a Hanyes or Chilton manual from a local auto part store or buy the factory wire diagrams (much better option) from www.diyrepairmanuals.com and use it to trace out the brake light wire.
There could be someone on here that happens to have the manual that can at least share the wire colors with you. The chance is slim, but you can choose to not accept my answer and seek out someone that might have it.

hi,the blinkers are all working fine, i tried left
i am trying to get a wiring diagram but in the mean time is there anyone out there that may have any other ideas or suggestions
