Batterys good but car wont turn over - 1997 Isuzu Trooper

If battery is good, and battery connections clean and tight..get a small hammer, crescent wrench and tap on the starter while soomeone turns the key. Starter is most likely going out or gone out..tapping will often free up starter temporarily

Will it crank in neutral ? Do you have power at the starter ?

10 volts isn't good and if you have a weak connection, it won't turn it over. You should have 12+ from a good battery. Try cleaning the battery connections with a battery brush.

anti theft? bad starter?

if the battery is good but the starter wont work then you need to replace your starter. it is held on by two bolts and has 2-3 wires on it. the hardest part of changing the starter is getting to it. sometimes the starter turns but wont turn the right speed anymore, so the engine wont fire.

make sure your battery is good. turn on your lights, if ok for a good minute or two, your battery is ok, but if nothing turns on you have a dead battery.

CHECK BATTERY VOLTAGE WITH DIGITAL VOLT METER.IT SHOULD BE 12.5 VOLTS.IF NOT CHARGE IT OR HAVE BATTERY CHECK OUT OR REPLACE.IF BATTERY GOOD.CHECK BATTERY CABLES FOR TIGHTNESS OR CORROSSION.IF CABLES GOOD.PROBLEM COULD BE FAULTY STARTER OR SOLENOID.TURN OFF RADIO BEFORE REMOVING BATTERY CABLES SO YOU WONT LOSE RADIO CODE TO PLAY RADIO.ALSO HAVE ALTERNATOR CHECKED OUT TO SEE IF IT IS CHARGING THE BATTERY.

if car wont start.make sure your battery volts are 12.5.if not charge battery.or replace it if dont hold a charge.if battery is good engine wont turn over.make sure battery cables is clean and tight if all good no start .have starter and starter solenoid check.if battery and starter is good.check for fuel .has some one turn ignition to the on position.go to rear of car listen for fuel pump noise.if your hear fuel pump check ignition system for spark.go to auto parts place buy a spark tester.if you get no spark .check .ignition fuses and ignition module.if you hear no fuel pump.replace relay or fuse.if if fuse and relay good replace fuel pump.if every thing good .your car could have crank sensor problem. or your car is in theft deterrant mode.if so have your car towed in and scanned.

if the battery is good and you jump the starter she should run otherwise you may have a sensor issue, try to get a hold of a code reader and see if any codes have popped up..
