CRANKING BUT DELAYED STARTING

My 1995 Nissan Maxima cranks a couple of times before it starts. This can sometimes be very embarassing. The battery is brand new. It is auto shift.

Check the camshaft position sensor. This can often cause a delayed start as the computer has to revert to the crank sensor for ignition and injector timing, which has to go through 2 complete engine revolutions to index properly, which can take 10-15 seconds.

hate ti jump in there, but your car has a fuel filter and is possible its the orignal its alot cheaper than the 40.00 50.00 sensor you might try it. have you notice alittle loss in pwer? might try gas injector cleaner. how long since a tune up.

Test for proper fuel pressure with a test gauge on the fuel rail, most throttle body injection cars (TBI) are between 13 psi and 17 psi. and most (DPI) direct port inject systems are between 40 psi and 55 psi. If no or little fuel pressure is observed and there is 12 volt power present at the fuel pump, the fuel pump has failed and needs replacing.

Check sparks, fuel pressure, injectors (should have ac volts while cranking), and if all that is good, check valve timing.

Maxima 1995 30g auto v6 3000 engine cranking but not starting starter motor ok ring gear ok could it be a fuse or relay

Hi,

Do not replace anything, until you have your vehicle's diagnostic codes (OBD) read.

It's possible the crank or camshaft sensor faulty, but your on board diagnostic computer will identify the likely cause.

Your local dealership (or authorised agent who has proper scan tool) will be able to read the codes for you and will not take more than 15 mins.

My nissan maxima will not start

Check timing belt. Shoot a timing light down at your crank. If the timing mark jumps around bad, your belt has slipped.

Could be a lot of things in this model car. Be more specific. Is the cranking fast or slow, does it crank and stops cranking and makes this weird noise?? This model A32 had some issues with that. give me more info and lets see if we can get you back on the road.
