Hello howard. There is a fuse panel to the left of the steering column behind a removable panel. Begin by checking and changing the fuse to the heater. The other posssible problem is the heater relay which is a plug in located under the dash, to the right of the steering column. IF the relay is bad the fan will not come on. IF you check and/or change each of these items and your heater still doesn't work then you probably will have to go to a repair shop. Joe

thanks for choosing fixya!

My 1995 vw golf driver wipers and heater works now and again

Has anybody been under the dash recently?
I get the impression there is one of the multi pin wiring harness plugs not quite connected. Get under the dash around the heater box and do the wiggle test with the heater fan switched on and see if anything happens. Also check the fuse box for a dirty fuse connection, sometimes wiggling the fuse can clean the connection.
The fuse box lid will tell you which fuse.

I have a 2005 Gmc Sierra. The fan doesnt work anymore and I checked the fuse and its fine. How hard is it to replace the relay?

When you say fan I assume that you are talking about the heater fan?? The fuse and relay are usually plug in modules. Fuses are usually under the dash and relays and some fuses are under the hood in a large black box on top of the drivers side fender. A description of fuses and relays is on the inside of the lid that you take off. If replacing them doesn't work then time for a new fan.

Heater fuse for a 1981 chevy pickup

If it's not working on HIGH speed it's a fuse that you will find inline and up on the firewall amongst the wires coming from the blower motor. I would first hook a wire to the positive side of the battery and touch it to the terminal on the blower motor. If it's the other speeds rather than the high speed I believe that is taken care of by replacing a fuse in the fuse block down under the dash on the drivers side. Good Luck!!
