Ok....when you talk about firing, do you mean that only the number 1 cylinder is receiving a spark from the distributor, as with this model, the "timing of the spark and operation of the spark is purely in the distributor, so unless you are 100 % sure that the distributor you replaced is good....i would be loooking at possible engine ecu......(there is no crankshaft position sensors or cam sensors in this model)

However, if you have only found that "firing" means the cylinder 1 is the only one attempting to fire, such as good spark, at the right time, with fuel and good compression, i would be doing a compression check, and double check the timing of the distributor.......

I replaced the plug wires on my Opel Kadett 200ie, but neglected to mark or number on the distributor. Help

What year is this vehicle? Some manufacturers mark the distributor cap where number one is. If it isn't marked you can use a ratchet and socket to manually turn the crank clockwise until the timing marks line up correctly. When you then check the rotor inside the distributor cap it should be pointing at the terminal for cylinder 1, then working clockwise fit the rest of the plug leads in the correct firing order. I think the firing order is 1, 3, 4, 2.
Number 1 is the cylinder nearest the Belts and pulleys on the end of the engine.

Chevy k1500 5.7 v8 wont start

Sounds like your timing is off when you placed the distributor back in or your spark plug wires are crossed. Start with the simple and check the spark plug wire firing order. 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 Cylinder numbers drivers side 1-3-5-7 radiator to firewall. Cylinder numbers passenger side 2-4-6-8 radiator to firewall. Distributor cap #1 is at 5 O'clock and rotates clock wise. Once that is establish to be good then make sure the cylinder 1 is at TDC with the distributor rotor at the #1 position. Good luck and hope it's a crossed firing order.

Timing is out 90 degrees

If the ignition timing was out 90 degress it would not run. Are you sure you are on Number 1 cylinder, Number 1 is not always at the front of the engine. Try connecting the timing light to number 4 and see what that does to the timing marks

What is the firing order for the 1994 ford taurus 3.8 engine, have just replaced cap and rotor, need order, thought I marked them but engine will not start. Perhaps I was wrong in the order.

Not trying to insult your intelligence, I'm going to get pretty basic here,

Looking at the Front of the engine, the spark plug order is 1, 2, 3, and 4. Front to back.

Looking at the distributor, it has two mounting screws for the distributor cap. One is close to the engine, the other screw is on the other side.

Looking at the distributor cap screw, on the Far side away from the engine, Number 1 spark plug is on the tower to the Left of it.

To the right of this distributor cap screw, is Number 2 spark plug tower.
The rotor turns clockwise.

Again, looking at the distributor from a top view, there is a distributor cap screw at the top, (Close to engine), and a distributor cap screw at the bottom.

Drawing an imaginary line from the top screw to the bottom screw, Number 1 spark plug wire goes to the Left, of the bottom mounting screw.

Firing Order is 1-3-4-2
The rotor turns Clockwise, (To the right)
