Hello, I have a 2002 Jaguar x-type 2.5, and when ever I drive, the orange light pops up and the sign shows "Cruise Control not available" and sometimes when i'm going above 30-35 MPH, it gives me bumps likes its gonna die on me. Can you please tell me what is wrong with the car?

Hello. Jag x-type 2002, 2.5 l. Problem: engine doesn't exceed 3000 rpm. It looks like computer blocks the engine. any ideas?

My car has a similar problem,i read the manual and the car goes to a limp home mode if the computer feels there is something wrong with the car,it happens to mine when the cruise control not available light comes on-it will also not exceed above 70mph when that particular light comes on.I was told my cruise control computer needs changing

I have exactly the same problem on mine-you explained perfectly,i was told i need to change the cruise control computer.I recently had the thermostat changed and the mechanic wiped the engine sign off that was triggered by the cruise control not available sign coming on-when he did this it took about a month for the problem to recur so i think the probelm is definately electrical not mechanical or it would have happened straight after he wiped the engine sensor light.could be air mass sensor could be cruise control computer-when i get some money i'll get it done

I have a Jaguar X Type 2002 2.5V6 AWD I left the car unused for 4 weeks whilst away, on return the speedometer and cruise control do not work, also the ABS and engine management light are permantly...

Hello. This tends to be all to do with the ABS. Some models have a reluctor ring on each cv joint near the wheel which looks like a castle moulding, but on mine there is a magnetic strip in the wheel bearing and mine corroded which reduced the signal. This caused the abs light and engine management light to come on. Without abs you cannot use the cruise control. It's not an expensive job to replace the bearing or to replace the cv joint if you have the reluctor ring but beware the dealers will try and sell you a whole drive shaft and this is not needed.

No cruise control available light comes on, and when this sign appears cant rev the car over 3K rpms driving on highway, going down hill and foot of the pedal light will come off

never heard of this before ,so obviously the cruise control is allowing the throttle to work then when it has a cough it puts engine on limp or slow speed .this vehicle is fly by wire so try changing the sensors on the pedals .Or just put it into dealers because if the correct part isnt known then changing parts willy nilly could cost more than a dealer repair

Surges

Surges? Mine would surge, sputter, like it was losing power and the engine light would come on. I got a message saying Cruise Control not available. I opened the hood and heard a hissing sound. There was a leak in my PCV hose. I taped it up with some electrical tape that I keep in my glove compartment and problem solved. My mechanic replaced the hose for about $15

2002 jag x-type- car wants to cut off when stopped

probably an intake problem easy.... air filter? harder leak in intake somewhere try the carb and choke cleaner start car and spray around intake components. i don't know about the sensor itself. cruise not available will come on when car is in limp home mode and the shaking will occur like in your last post at high rpms. i'm not a mechanic but have recently had similar problems.
