Is it okay to buy tires other than the OEM Pirelli's for the 2004 XC70? I've never had an AWD vehicle before and I'm concerned about potential problems with other than OEM tires. However, I'm also not liking the price for the Pirellis.

You will not like the price, of any of the tire choices, you have today

Any tire will be $200 ea

The tire rack is a good site to evaluate tires

Always go to several tire stores, to look at what your
interested in. Size doesn't matter for looking at tread design

I don't think, you thought out that question
You own the vehicle, you control tire selection, maintenance, etc

OEM tires are just that. It is possible that your car came with
any number of different brands. The factory will make a run, then
switch venders. All about money & savings
Usually the OE tires, are not the best, as far as wear

All you need, is a quality tire, and the outside diameter is critical
with AWD. That said, after you inflate, buy and then measure the outside of
the tire, what do you do. If you own a shop you can try several tires

My advice, is commit to some serious money,we have no choice,we have to use
what the vehicle was designed for
I wouldn't own a 4x4 or AWD, and run a summer tire. Without an aggressive tread you
defeat the purpose of AWD
So I would suggest you step up to the most aggressive tread you can find, in the correct size
You most likely got, what I call street tires,a florida special

Those less aggresive tires are no good in snow.
And 4x4 and AWD only drives on one tire per axle, not all 4

Pirelli --from my research, coinsidently is at the bottom of the list, forget them

Awd not working on my 2004 xc70

Raise the vehicle start the engine and put it in drive. If the front wheels are turning and the rear driveshaft isn't, the most likely cause is the coupler between the transmission and the angle gear.

Awd on 2004 xc70 quit working--any ideas ?

Raise the vehicle and start the engine. Put the vehicle in drive, make sure that if the vehicle is equipped with DSTC it is turned off. If the front wheels turn but the rear driveshaft doesn't, the most likely cause is the coupler between the transmission and the angle gear is bad.

What is wrong w/04 buick raininer awd dont work, service light does not come on ?

There are 2 types of AWD full time and part time.In AWD there is difference in speed from front to rear These system are not selectable and do not have low range. There is also on demand AWD.This is a 30% to front and 70% to rear. To truly diagnosis your concern is with a comparision vehicle.

Hi what is the common problem with Ford Escape 2004 V-6 Vehicle?

Hi, The Escape is a great vehicle, compact and great on fuel mileage. As with all vehicles, it has a few concerns that are more common specific to this vehicle. I've seen engine misfire concerns, usually caused by tiny fractures/cracks in the ignition coil housings or due to the rubber boot part of the coil deteriorating and allowing moisture to short it out. A scan tool can be used to retrieve codes that would determine which cylinder is affected.

Another concern is misfires caused by a break in the wiring between the computer (PCM) and the coils or fuel injectors. The harness constantly flexes when the vehicle accelerates and decelerates.

Another concern is the lower control arm bushing rubber deteriorating. When this happens the alignment will change and can cause tire wear.

The Escape has a short wheel base and is prone to tire wear. It's important to rotate tires regularly (7500 - 10,000) miles. If the tires wear (cup) enough the vehicle will exibit an audible roaring noise while driving.

If maintained properly, the Escape is a great vehicle.

Tire valve defects on pirelli tires - 5 flats in less than a year

tire valves are completely independant of the actual tire - is it the actual valves causing the flats? if so, i think either your shop is using poor quality valves (unlikely), or someone is messing around with your valves when your not looking. if i am way off here, please give me some more details on the flats you are getting.

Type R s60 tires rub when turned left or right. Very short turning radius. Tires seem to be stock. What's the deal? 2004... What size tire and wheel should be on there so it doesn't rub

That was a very common problem in the S60 R cars. The only solution is to put the original equipment tires back on. I mean the same manufacturer and design. I believe they were pirelli tires (spelling sorry) as to the design, PZero's I think
